Forget about Burks specifically, it seems like inept personnel decision making to draft a guy #12 overall and never give him an opportunity to play significant minutes for an extended period of time in order to see what kind of player he is. Especially a player who by all accounts works hard, put in work in the offseasn, and who in the few opportunities he has been given, has been pretty good.

Again, to hell with Burks, ultimately it pisses me off that they drafted a guy #12 and then sit him on the bench for a year and a half.

Between the Jazz and BYU, I'm going to scratch my eyes out with some of these decisions.

Woof. That was some ugly ball. Good thing I held out on tickets. The ticket lady () gave us 6 lower bowl tickets for free (face value: $600): lots of enthusiasm for the Wizards. As usual, the 801 was well represented with lots of Stockton and DWill jerseys.

My first time seeing Favors in person, and I came away unimpressed. After his initial blockfest, he was totally lost trying to get a body on Vesely. As the player with the highest ceiling for the Jazz, I'm starting to wonder if that ceiling is a mirage.

Most of the team seemed a step slow: Al had at least three turnovers on lazy passes off rebounds/out-of-bounds; Milsap was getting rejected at the rim with frequency; Jamaal Tinsley looked ancient. Carroll provided a nice spark off the bench, mostly because he was guarded by Jordan Crawford who simply refused to box him out.

I simply don't understand what we are doing with Randy Foye. He should be, if anything, our backup 1 or 2. He has no business starting in this league.

Al is a horrid passer, throwing the ball late and without zip (the same way he shoots), Milsap, despite his ability to contort and bend his body is often rejected due to his 6'6'' frame (although he does make some amazing shots around much bigger men with regularity), Jamal Tinsley should be applying for medicare and complaining about traffic in his neighborhood, and Carroll is all hustle and little talent; an extremely poor-man's Faried.

I'm obviously higher on Favors than you are but I can safely say my expectations are lower than some Jazz fans and analysts. He works hard but will go through stretches where he just isn't doing his job. He needs to learn how to pass out of the post and he needs to learn from Paul how to more effectively get up the "defended" shots, like using his off-arm effectively. He misses way too much at the rim.

The holes in his game if not fixed in the next year or two may remain permanent and almost incorrectible.

I really, really want to believe in Favors. He holds out the potential of an elite defensive big man with offensive skills. But I worry about his natural basketball sense. I agree with you that the next two years will probably answer the question about his potential.

Butal miss there by Jimmer, wide open and didn't come close.

This team has to be turned over to Hayward and Favors immediately. It should've been done at the end of last year, and off-season moves should've been made to ensure that was the case. But with brutal road play, barely beating a depleated Toronto squad and almost losing to the worst team in the NBA, followed up by losing at home to Sacramento, why do they insist on thinking sliding one guy into the starting lineup and another into the rotation is going to make any difference at all?

On a positive note, Hayward came into the game shooting 82% from the line and is 7-7 so far tonight. Glad to see the rookie year 71% is looking like the anomaly. No reason he shouldn't be well over 80% every year.
