Yeah, I don't know what that would look like. I think they clearly could have given enough to get harden. But would the asking price have been worth it? i don't know without knowing what they wanted.Originally posted by Maximus View PostIf they were contacted, they should have done all they could to get him. biggest hole on this team is a shooter who can create his own shots. HmmmSo Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

He's an all-star, all NBA, received all nba first team votes, averaged almost two assists more than Paul. I'm not saying he's better than Paul, but if you want to go pure pg or defense, etc, he's in the conversation.Originally posted by MarkGrace View PostI don't think there's an argument that he's the best pg in the league. I like him, but I wouldn't give up a ton for him.I'm like LeBron James.

I would happily give up Millsap, Hayward and Foye for him.
Rondo is nails.
He would never come here though and he'd never sign long term. Will donate kidney for B12 membership.

Yeah, he's a good player. He's just not arguably the best at his position.Originally posted by smokymountainrain View PostHe's an all-star, all NBA, received all nba first team votes, averaged almost two assists more than Paul. The same could be said of several players, including Harden. It's what always makes these OH MY GOD I CAN'T BELIEVE X TEAM GOT HIS FOR A SACK OF GARBAGE AND WE DIDN'T!!! reactions a little incomplete to me.Originally posted by The_Douger View PostHe would never come here though and he'd never sign long term.So Russell...what do you love about music? Well, one of the conditions of a deal like that is usually that they sign a long term agreement.Originally posted by MarkGrace View PostThe same could be said of several players, including Harden. I can't wait until Al Jefferson isn't part of the Jazz anymore. What a young player stunting cannibal that guy is.Will donate kidney for B12 membership.

I'd rather keep Al than Sap. And I think having Al around is going to be better for the development of Favors and Kanter than Sap.Originally posted by The_Douger View PostI can't wait until Al Jefferson isn't part of the Jazz anymore. I'm not a big Rondo fan, so I agree with Grace that giving up a lot for him doesn't make a lot of sense. On top of that, he's a terrible fit for the Jazz - not a shooter, bad FT%, likes to freelance. He's on the perfect team for his talents: Pierce can carry the team on offense and they can all lock down on defense. I think Rondo's value is highest in Boston, and I suspect the rest of the league (and Danny Ainge) have come to realize that as well.

Damn you, MarkGrace! Those are arguments, not just that he's good, but that he is arguably the best PG in the league. He received votes for first team all NBA, dangit!Originally posted by MarkGrace View PostYeah, he's a good player. He's just not arguably the best at his position.I'm like LeBron James.

From the Locke stat geek files: If Randy Foye is the back-up PG and not Tinsley, every player in the Jazz rotation will be a player whose average points/possession is higher than the league average. Teams that have every rotation player above the league average in ppp is almost always a top 5 offensive team that year.

I'd rather keep Al too. But it won't ever be a straight pick 'em, because Jefferson is always going to make more cash than Millsap. So do I prefer Jefferson on a 5 year contract making $4 M/year more than Paul? Probably not in this market with the current make-up of the roster.Originally posted by MarkGrace View PostI'd rather keep Al than Sap. I go back and forth on this. He's so undersized that he's abused by most 4's but he is much more versatile than Al. If he was a 2nd team 3 I would have no problem shipping Al but Corbin won't play the big lineup and insists he get the bulk of the 4 minutes which is asinine.Originally posted by MarkGrace View PostI'd rather keep Al than Sap. Last year Millsap was part of the two best defensive pairings on the Jazz (Millsap/Kanter and Millsap/Favors), and two best overall pairings (off and def rat combined) of players that saw at least 200 minutes together (Burks/Millsap and Favors/Millsap). Not a huge fan of def rating, but I think it starts to have a little more validity when it's used showing how multiple players are doing together on a court instead of just the individual. And it appears that when on the court with the right guys around him, Millsap's good defensive rebounding rate and steal rate help make up for what he lacks in size against many 4's.Originally posted by Blueintheface View PostI go back and forth on this. The thing I like the most about Millsap goes back to a scouting report on him back when Boozer was still on the team. The scout said it was much easier to scout and prepare for Utah when Boozer was playing because the offense was going to go through him, he was going to hold the ball a lot, and the defense could know better what they needed to do to defend the Jazz. But when Boozer was out, it was much harder because Millsap would score as much as Boozer usually did, but he'd do it as a secondary option and through off rebounds and garbage plays, so it made it more difficult to defend the rest of the offense that then had better ball movement and more variability.
