Didn't Jazz brass specifically say they would play the guys under contact big minutes in summer league? No, I didn't believe them, but it's funny they would bother saying that if they weren't going to actually do it.Originally posted by BGRTHNUMEGO View PostNo. They've got about six other point guards on the roster, and they've got to make sure they get a good audition for Belgium.
Looks like another year where we hear that the Jazz team is having a hard time picking up the system the coaches are trying to implement. Always a solid plan to make summer league worthwhile: get 15+ guys on the roster, put in more of your system than any other team, and then try to play as many of those guys as you can each game. Recipe for awesomeness.I'm like LeBron James.

They did play Kanter a lot this game, he just sucked.Originally posted by smokymountainrain View PostDidn't Jazz brass specifically say they would play the guys under contact big minutes in summer league? KOC did say they were going to play their guys on contract a lot of minutes and would try to "feature them", but he added "if they are playing hard". Burks got two offensive fouls early, so he must not have been playing hard.
The Pistons played 9 players. The Jazz played 13. The Jazz also have a rep of trying to instill much more of their real system during summer league than other teams. Hence the mess today and every summer. Way too many guys on the roster, way too many play each game, cuts made too late, and thus the games are essentially worthless.

That's a pretty good summary of Jazz SL over the years. Also you have to love KOC giving himself an out with the "playing hard" comment.Originally posted by BGRTHNUMEGO View Post

Tweets from the USA scrimmage."@poormanscommish: Gordon Hayward nifty under the hoop to get the layup against Favors. This kid has a toolbox."
"@poormanscommish: Confident trey Hayward. Wall decides to finally shoot in front of Jrue and hits back iron."
"@marvin_is_joe: @poormanscommish so what players are most impressive so far. I can tell that it is not Blair. Favors and Hayward both impressing."
"@poormanscommish: Kinda fun to see DeMarcus vs Favors."
"@poormanscommish: I'm underwhelmed by DeJuan Blair. Has missed a lot at the rim. Favors blocks DeMarcus!"
"@poormanscommish: DeMarcus wins the next battle. And one on Favors scoop under."
"@poormanscommish: Two catch n shoot swish treys by Hayward. I like the quick release."
"@poormanscommish: Hayward was hanging hanging then lobbed a lil pass to DeJuan who of course could not finish. But clever move by Hayward."
"@poormanscommish: From that one scrimmage I was impressed by Paul George's attack and Gordon Hayward's wide skillset. DeJuan sucked."
@poormanscomish: Favors sicks 360 dunk on Hayward, slaps Hayward, Hayward just plays through it.
Poor Man's Commish @poormanscommish
Klay Thompson and Gordon Hayward easily have the best strokes. Kids u know why? The time to bring ball up from waist to forehead is minimal.
Poor Man's Commish @poormanscommish
I could watch Gordon Hayward do drills all day. The kid is smooth and fundamental. He's going to be star.
Poor Man's Commish @poormanscommish
Of course some dumb**** Twitterer is now going to accuse me of projecting Gordon Hayward to be a star based on watching him drill

Wait... Jacque Vaughn is a coach? Oh, and it looks like Jeff Hornacek has taken on the "annually rumored to be coaching searches" mantle from Phil Johnson and Ty Corbin.Josh Robbins @JoshuaBRobbins
That brings the candidate pool to 6: Hornacek, Lindsey Hunter, Mike Malone, Brian Shaw, Quin Snyder and Jacque Vaughn.
Josh Robbins @JoshuaBRobbins
#Utah #Jazz assistant coach Jeff Hornacek will be interviwed by #Orlando #Magic for their coaching vacancy via @tribjazz

Hayward and Favors are part of Team USA Select -- it's the team that scrimmages and practices against the USA squad to get them ready. They're at camp in Vegas right now. Should be a great experience for them.Originally posted by HuskyFreeNorthwest View PostIs team USA scrimmaging against NBA guys? What event is this guy at?
"We’re basically like a junior-varsity team, compared to them," he said. "It’s all about the reality check. You think you’re good, until you go up against them. Then you’re like, ‘Man, I got stuff I need to work on.’"Both Hayward and Favors have played multiple positions and guarded a wide variety of Olympians, reflective of how Krzyzewski is trying to build a versatile team. But that’s fine by them, with Favors saying it’s a "confidence-builder" to be here - "it’s a surprise, and an honor," he said - and Hayward saying it helps "improve all parts of your game."
"Playing against the best competition in the world, it’s only going to make you better," he added. "You’re not going to be playing against anybody better, anywhere else, and there’s nothing like experience."So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

Poor Man's Commish @poormanscommish
So anyways, Gordon Hayward came out and nobody wanted to interview him at first. Naturally I stepped up to the plate. #mansgame lol
Poor Man's Commish @poormanscommish
Gordon Hayward said he's been working on that quick release and it has definitely improved since his days at Butler.
Poor Man's Commish @poormanscommish
Gordon Hayward said his approach to doing drills the right way and.fundamentals has always been important. "No reason to do them wrong."
Poor Man's Commish @poormanscommish
Gordon Hayward said sometimes the Select Team doesn't get as many.possessions as Team USA works on this/that. Coach K let them know long ago
Poor Man's Commish @poormanscommish
Gordon Hayward definitely wants to play on the 2016 Olympic team and appreciates the opportunity to be with Team Select right now.
Poor Man's Commish @poormanscommish
Oh yeah, Gordon Hayward said the P3 training program (I've never heard of it) is really helping him and Derrick Favors.
Poor Man's Commish @poormanscommish
Jazz fans have got to be the most devout. I'm getting a majority of replies from them and KSL-Sportsbeat was all over Hayward and Favors. So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.
