I was fine with it. And IIRC I thought the future was really bright based on a RMR game where Raul Lopez had an awesome spin move, Pavlovic looked so smooth, and Borchardt was moving and shooting like no previous Jazz center had.

But KOC definitely didn't know Borchardt was dropping to 18 in that draft. They admitted afterwards that they thought he was going in the top 10 and that they hadn't gotten the full story on his foot issues because of it.

4th Toyota dealership. I believe they own many dealerships outside of Utah.

Yup. Picking where they were at the risk was minimal IMO.

Boozer was on the record saying he was really interested in being in Utah. I thought that was the smarter pick at the time, and it proved to be. I'm not right very often, so I want to harp on this one a bunch, because I was right for once.

In retrospect, it would have been interesting to see if Malone could have imparted some defensive tips/techniques that could have helped Boozer as a young, open-minded player.

Hopefully they own more than 4 Toyota delearships.

            • They own over 40 dealerships and are one of the largest groups in the entire country--private or public.

Did Miller really say that he though Jimmer jersey sales next year would probably beat Malone or Stockton's during their best years? I actually think I believe that. So how much is that worth, and if it's worth a lot, you have to pick him, right? I still think you pick him partly because he's the smallest risk at 12 out of anyone available.

I also have heard so many people say they'd buy season tickets as soon as the Jazz draft him. But I'm sure most of them wouldn't when it came down to it.

One more thing. We hear talk about everyone having higher ceiling than Jimmer, but I don't understand why. We've heard comparisons to Mark Price, and I don't see why his ceiling is not Steve Nash. (I'm not saying that's likely, but why isn't that his ceiling if Burk's ceiling is a healthy Brandon Roy?) My point is, if Nash is his ceiling, then nobody available has a higher ceiling. That's pretty much the same if his ceiling is Mark Price.

The only reason you pick him is because you think he's the best player on the board, period. If the Jazz feel that way and they take him, I'm fine with that. If they take him for some other reason (jersey sales, tickets), I'll be seriously pissed off. Though I feel pretty comfortable they wouldn't do it for the latter reason since Jr. has made that clear.
So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

                • If Minnesota is willing to move out of the 2 spot in exchange for the 4 and 8, is there anything the Jazz could/would offer to move up from 3 that the Wolves would accept?

#3 + GS pick? Can't see how that'd be viewed as superior to 4 and 8 this year.

#3 + Tomic? Not unless he's available to come this year, but Kahn does like his Euro's.

#3 + 12 + Bell? Is getting Derrick Williams worth that, as opposed to say Kanter and Jimmer?

                  • At this point, I don't think moving to #2 will happen for the Jazz. Seems like Williams will probably be the #2 pick by someone else (the Jazz already have an undersized PF anyways in Milsap).

I think the Jazz should take the best player available at #3 (Kanter?), and the best gaurd available at #12 (Jimmer?). Trade Milsap/next year's GS pick for a young scoring wing. Dispose of Raja bell's corpse.

I think if a team can get the 4 and 8 pick, they would be crazy to trade those for the #2. Derrick Williams just isn't a sure enough thing to make a trade like that. I'm not convinced he's a significantly better prospect than who they could get at #8, let alone #4.

Agreed. Someone is going to overpay for Williams.

                        A team that looks like:

PG: Harris / backup -> Jimmer or a resigned Watson?
                        SG: Hayward / Miles
SF: New wing / resigned AK -> I'd love OJ Mayo or Igoudala for Milsap plus change
                        PF: Favors / Kanter
                        C: Jefferson / Okur

That's a balanced workmanlike team. No superstars, but the Jazz aren't going to get a superstar in free agency, the draft, or a trade. With the exception of a traded-for Igoudala, it's a cheap team too. We need to free up cap space to sign Chris Paul and Dwight Howard next year.

Agreed. I hate that I'm starting to buy the Kanter stuff, but I kind of am. I don't know, at this point he just sounds like a greater potential impact player than Knight. I definitely like Knight, but for some reason I can't get myself to believe in him as a #3 pick. 6-8 range and I'm all over him. I'm also starting to feel like Williams is really a 4, despite the fact that he keeps asserting he's a 3. If he's a 3, then he needs a body overhaul (which is definitely possible given the amount of fat he's carrying).

If they don't get a PG at 12, I'm fine with waiting it out a year and potentially positioning ourselves for a PG in next year's draft. I don't think we need to feel desperate to land a PG this year, so there are options in filling this position.

                          • I hate the idea of Kanter at three. I say you look to pair a perimeter player with Al/Favors and if you have to reach for Knight at three then pull the trigger.

Theres no shortage of supply of 6'10" Euros who haven't played competitively in years, roll the dice on a Euro next year.

Who's the perimeter player you have in mind? Dwill2 if he makes it past the 2 pick? Other than that, I'm not there's not much to look at (and still not completely buying dwill2 as a perimeter player).

I'm not in love with kanter at 3, but right now I can't get myself to love anyone at 3. Still pissed off at harrison barnes.

Knight. I like the idea of Knight-Hayward-CJ-Favors-Al as the youth movement.

Mix in a couple veterans and I think you have a playoff team.
