Not me. He's a well below average player who happened to hit a few shots last year because he was surrounded by all-stars.

I'd rather have Brewer. But if we have to fill a hole with Brown for a year, then we'd survive. As long as it is a low-ball and short term deal. I'd expect Hayward could give us everything Brown could give us at the 2 this year, and more. But I worry about defense.

There doesn't appear to be many options left at the 2 right now. More Ronnie Price? Please no.

    • Wes' contract is more and more amazing every day. Looks like he'll be more expensive than RJeff next year, unreal.

Hayward will never have the explosive athleticism that Brown has. Dudes a freak.

Hayward becoming as athletic as Brown is more likely than Brown becoming as tall as Hayward.

I don't mind Brown as a backup PG, but I wouldn't want to see him play any at the 2.

              Really?

Shannon is 6'4" which is only an inch shorter than Wes and I'd say he's much more athletic. Shannon at two would be a great fit. He'd have the benefit of open shots all game long, he's a strong slasher and he can replace the defense left by Wes.

Shannon Brown is 6'4" like Paul Millsap is 6'8".

Perhaps Utah and Portland could come to some sort of an agreement. Utah matches the deal, provided Portland kicks in 9 million towards the deal. They can spread the 9 out against their cap over the life of the deal, and Utah gets Wes at 5 million per for 5 years.

If that were really an option, I'm guessing Portland would take it at this point. Sucks when someone calls your bluff.

This is what happens when you don't have a GM and Larry Miller and Paul Allen are running the show. It has been a really bad offseason for the Blazers.

                    • With Minnesota signing Ridnour to 4 years, $16 M, I guess I'm mildly surprised the Jazz and Wolves didn't work something out to get Sessions to SLC along with Jefferson. It certainly would have addressed a big need for Utah, getting a quality back-up behind Deron. His salary isn't really that outrageous, and his game suits the Jazz system perfectly. I don't know if Minny has something else lined up for him already, but no way are they keeping him around along with Flynn and Ridnour.

Trade could have been expanded to send Price's $1.3 M salary to Minnesota, with the Jazz taking back Session's 3 years, $13 M and not having to give up one of the first round picks that went out.

He is also very long if I remember right and very quick. Yes he would struggle against bigger twos, but if the Jazz decide to go small and play up tempo, he would be great.

Good thing I haven't claimed that Hayward is 6'8".

I don't get it. Are you merely confirming that Tomic is 7'2"? I don't know if he is. But Hayward is definitely at least 4 inches taller than Shannon Brown and officially measured 6'8". Taller than Millsap.

For some reason, Shannon Brown didn't get measured prior to his NBA draft. But he sure looked small as a 2 guard for the Lakers and not too big as a PG.

Also, Jordan Farmar can jump just as high as Shannon Brown.

I don't know how tall Hayward is with shoes, without shoes, etc, but this was the point I was making: Shannon Brown is shorter than Hayward, and not just negligibly shorter. 4 inches is a huge difference at any position, but especially at guard.
