Ford's guesses on FA destinations:
Does that mean he's hearing about a Utah and NY S&T? I don't think Lee is quite as good as Booz, but if we're moving him in a trade, I think that's about as good a value as you can hope for.Booz in NY
David Lee in Utah
Bron and JJ in Chicago
Wade and Bosh in Miami
Amare and Gay in NJ
Dirk in DallasSo Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

That would be what he is implying. I'm wondering if a large trade exception wouldn't be a better resource.Originally posted by MarkGrace View PostFord's guesses on FA destinations:

On a somewhat related/hypothetical note, would Utah ever consider an AK for KG swap should Boston decide to blow their roster up with PP and Ray Allen leaving?

Tyson Chandler is not opting out. He'll be making $12.7 M this season.
He's only played 45 games and 51 games in the past two seasons. He's only ever averaged over 10 ppg once, and over 10 rpg twice, and he's never averaged more than 2 bpg. But he's big, mobile, will play defense, works well in a S&R offense, and he has an expiring contract. Anyone know if he'd be restricted next summer? He's got to try to earn a big payday, so this might be a good year to have him.
He could be had via S&T with Boozer (directly or in 3-team deal), or if Utah can get a trade exception by moving Boozer to a team under the cap.

Radio nerds were apparently saying yesterday that the Jazz shied away from a big in the draft because they like Tomic better than anything left on the board. Interesting if true.So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

I've wondered if any spending this off-season, or the lack of spending, might signal a big contract going Tomic's way next year to try to ensure he's on the roster for 2011-12.Originally posted by MarkGrace View PostRadio nerds were apparently saying yesterday that the Jazz shied away from a big in the draft because they like Tomic better than anything left on the board. I'm gonna need more than that clip to excite me. Watch the move at :11. The day he joins the team he could very well be the only wing on the roster with a go-to move. That play right there actually looked a lot like Deron's crossover step-back. Not as tight, but something to work with.
I'm finding silver linings everywhere.

I wondered the same thing. I also wondered if maybe the Jazz now think there is a chance that Tomic makes it over next year.Originally posted by MarkGrace View PostRadio nerds were apparently saying yesterday that the Jazz shied away from a big in the draft because they like Tomic better than anything left on the board. Maybe you should play wing for the Jazz. CJ, Wes, Korver and AK don't have a single move like that.Originally posted by Jacob View PostI'm gonna need more than that clip to excite me. That's a move I can pull off once in a while. So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

If only I were 4 inches taller and could jump higher. I'd be Gordon Hayward.Originally posted by MarkGrace View PostMaybe you should play wing for the Jazz. CJ, Wes, Korver and AK don't have a single move like that.
My point was mostly that the single clip doesn't tell us much. Maybe it was bad defense.
None of the wings you mention ever run a pick and roll for the Jazz like in that highlight. Maybe that is discouraged in the offense. We don't see much of that type of isolation from the wing at all.

CJ has had opportunities to run side SnR's. AK and Korver haven't because they can barely dribble.Originally posted by Jacob View PostNone of the wings you mention ever run a pick and roll for the Jazz like in that highlight. Really surprised. Chiesa was on the radio about 2 weeks ago and said one of the main reasons they wanted to trade for Brewer during the season was to ensure that they'd have the chance to match any offer. Seems silly to not at least make a QO, especially for a team that might lose their starter at Brewer's position, that won't be very far under the cap even if Gay walks so they can't make offers to any significant FA's, and because the QO wouldn't have been for a very large amount.Originally posted by MarkGrace View PostMemphis didn't make a QO to brewer. I'm kind of surprised by that.
Maybe we will be hearing something about his hamstring soon.

Portland has targeted Utah’s restricted free agent Wesley Matthews, who had a surprising rookie season after going undrafted out of Marquette.
