current rumor has the Magic offering Afflalo, #4 and #12 to Cleveland for the #1.
http://espn.go.com/nba/draft2014/sto...rn-draft-first
Cavs should definitely take the Orlando deal.Of the offers they've received, a source says the Cavs aren't enamored by either the Sixers' offer (Thaddeus Young and the No. 3 pick) nor the Jazz's offer (Derrick Favors and the No. 5 pick). However, the Cavs do have some interest in the Magic's offer of Arron Afflalo, the No. 4 pick and the No. 12 pick.I'm like LeBron James.

Meh. I don't even like Vonleh and Gordon much, but I'd rather stay at 5, not give up Favors (let alone, the great AB) and take my chances that Vonleh, Randle, Smart, Gordon will be as good as or better than Wiggins/Parker. IMO, when Embiid was healthy, there were two tiers - tier 1 was Embiid; tier 2 was Wiggins, Parker, Randle, Vonleh, Smart, Gordon. Hell, I'd even take my chances with Exum than trade Favors and #5 for Wiggins or Parker.Originally posted by MarkGrace View PostJazz should be fine kicking in Burks if that's Orlando's offer.I'm like LeBron James.

Who is known to have had 2 workouts with the Jazz? Just Gordon? When the team brought him in again this week I wondered if what they wanted to see was if his shooting would be consistent. He reportedly shot it really well the first time through. That to me is one of the biggest questions of the draft: how much has Gordon improved his shot? Because if he looks like he'll be able to shoot 35% from 3 and not be a total disaster from the line, his defense, dribbling, and passing ability at his size would be hard to pass up.
I'm impressed at how often he slides his feet, stays in front of a smaller player, and then contests the shot in the draft preview videos of him at DX and by Locke. He really reminds me of Rodman in that sense. He's not lazy and just getting by because he's bigger and more athletic than the people he's guarding. He really looks to have good defensive fundamentals even as a 6'9" guy. That kind of defense next to someone like Favors could be incredibly valuable. And a big that passes well is going to be key to how Snyder wants to run the offense. But if he is a horrid shooter, his passing ability won't be able to be as useful as it should be.

I think Wiggins might be tier 1. If that's the case then the Favors deal makes sense. My only doubt about Wiggins is whether he has the drive to be great.Originally posted by smokymountainrain View PostMeh. I would be disappointed if they traded Favors and #5 for Parker. I think Parker will be good early and then plateau. I also think there are risks with his athleticism and his weight.
Favors has the potential to be a rim defender with more offensive game than DeAndre Jordan or Tyson Chandler. That's a valuable player. The #5 pick could easily turn into an all-star in this draft. To give that up, the #1 pick needs to be transcendent.

I would take Wiggins #1. But if I'm throwing out numbers, I might give him a 20% chance of making 5+ all-star games, giving Parker the benefit of the doubt based on everybody else's opinions, let's put him at 18%, I'd give Gordon a 15-16% chance. That difference, to me, isn't worth giving up Favors + 5 and especially not Burks, Favors and 5.Last edited by smokymountainrain; 06-24-2014, 05:40 PM.I'm like LeBron James.

I do think that the Jazz would have a chance to really really improve with either Jabari or Wiggins. I think Jabari is a temptation for a front office who has to be aware that public interest in the latter day hard-luck Jazz is really waning. There was a time when I NEVER missed a Jazz game. That's what happens when your team competes. These last few years since Sloan bounced have been a complete joke. If they don't care, I don't care, and I suspect many others feel the same way."I'm anti, can't no government handle a commando / Your man don't want it, Trump's a bitch! If Wiggins is worth Favors + 5, he's worth Favors + 5 + Burks. Burks is a commodity.Originally posted by smokymountainrain View PostI mostly agree.

That same reasoning actually works both ways. If Cleveland is down to demanding Burks then the deal is basically done.

In any circumstance could you see Wiggins becoming a top 10 player in the league at any given time type player? If the answer is yes, then I think you strongly have to consider pulling the trigger. Ask the same about Parker, and Gordon. I think wiggins and Parker are both closer bets to that than Gordon is, because I don't think we've ever had a top 10 player who shot 50% from the FT line. Shaq maybe is the closest, but Gordon is not Shaq physically.Originally posted by smokymountainrain View PostI mostly agree.

To me, that's what separates the top of Wiggins and Parker from Gordon. Maybe Gordon gets there, but his flaw is big enough that he has the furthest gap to overcome to do it. Having said that, if the Jazz can't move up, and they end up with Gordon, I'm okay with that. Just please find someone who can shoot at 23 (or, preferably, move up to pick someone who can shoot in the late lotto)
