I didn't see a single post move from our bigs down low. In fact I think I remember 2-3 entry passes that were immediately kicked out. Neilson looked ok against 6'7 competition. Nixon I was not impressed with in high school but he did prove he is good enough to play D-II ball. Toolson has an effortless shot that will help this team. Haws is a beast and he does it quietly. Fischer is fun to watch but turns it over way to much. The PG situation is a huge concern. The fact that Rose has been giving Bartley PG minutes scares the hell out of me.
I was pretty clear that we have no post offense. I still think Neilson will be a good player, even a very good player by the time he is a junior, and I was pleasantly surprised by Dalton Nixon. PG situation is not a huge concern unless Collinsworth doesn't return.

I'm choosing to mostly ignore your fatuity here and instead overwhelm you with so much data that you'll maybe, just maybe, realize that you have reams to read on this subject before you can contribute meaningfully to any conversation on this topic.

This is the part where Jacob reminds you that Collinsworth is a PF.

I still think we were at our best when we played small ball with KC at the 4 in the early part of last year. But then Matty fell apart and it is all water under the bridge.

Rose would like to get Corbin Kaufusi "a lot of minutes" v. SPU Saturday. CK sat out with a breathing issue last week; full practice today.

          • The loss of Aytes is greatly concerning.

It will be interesting how Rose juggles this team. A lot of players but apparently no low post scorers.

              • Kaufusi runs well and might be able to add some defense. Hard to say much else in light of competition. Hwat and Winder look good. Nice to see KC on the floor.

I liked Fischer's confidence. It was just Haws taking charge.

                      • I did not see the first half. How many balls did he deflect?

                        • Too bad that the game against Long Beach State on Friday is so damn early, 5 PM. Anybody know why it's so early? Is that the only time slot BYUTV would give us?

I know they have a home game the next day.

                            • This team is going to be interesting.

I think the starting lineup I like best is:

                              KC
                              Winder
                              Haws
                              Austin
                              Kaufusi

with Fishcher as a sixth man getting starters minutes, Bartley and Ellis contributing but with fewer minutes, Nixon backing up Austin, and Austin/Worthington backing up the 5.

I like Fischer, but I think putting KC, Fischer, and Haws on the court together is going to be too weak defensively.

I really like Kaufusi. By the end of the season, I think he could be as good or better than Mika. Not as experienced or strong, but a little longer and quicker on his feet.

Inside, we improve from last year. Kaufusi nearly makes up for the loss of Mika, and the added depth of Nixon, Austin, and maybe Aytes makes this group better.

The guards: if KC can stay healthy and play strong (big if--i'm worried), the addition of Fischer makes up for loss of Carlino. I see us just as good at the guard line as last year.

Depends on how this team comes together, but I expect to be better than last year and maybe an expectation of a tourney win out of this bunch.

                              • I don't see it that way but I hope you're right. I think we are going to really, really struggle defensively (and that's saying something). I see us taking a temporary step backwards this year but I'm still bullish on our future.
