I guess he could have played against him in a pre-season NBA game or something like that. Bottom line is Bradley had a long NBA career despite his limitations and Dembo didn't.

I just learned something new about Fennis Dembo [Mods: if there is already a thread about such discoveries, please feel free to merge]

Early on Easter morning in 2003, a man broke into Dembo's house while he and his mother were sleeping. Dembo grabbed a gun and faced the intruder, warning him to stop and leave. When the intruder failed to stop, Dembo shot and killed him. No charges were filed against Dembo, but he was shaken by the incident, fearful for a time to talk to others or to leave his room.

I could swear I saw them play together. Now I've got to look it up.

I just looked it up and I was wrong. I would have sworn it was Dembo. It must have been another Cowboy with a funny name.

Reggie Slater probably played about the same time as Bradley.

            • I'll never forget the time Shawn Bradley dunked on Manute Bol and teabagged him. Totally worth the T.

I'll never forget watching Jackson Emery steal the ball from Tim Hardaway.

I like what I'm seeing. The result notwithstanding, when he exploded for the dunk against SDSU I was genuinely shocked that he had that kind of athleticism (guess I'll need to start paying attention to what his teammates have been saying). He needs strength but I like what I'm seeing so far. He's been my biggest surprise thus far.

Biggest disappointment so far, albeit an inconsequential one, has been Nixon. Again, he's probably just rushing things and getting his legs under him, but I thought his athleticism would be readily apparent (this isn't to say I'm not disappointed in this team's defense but it's not as unexpected I guess).

Why were you expecting Nixon's athleticism to be apparent? He's skilled basketball player, and he can shoot, but he plays with 10 lb weights around his ankles.

i guess I had formulated an opinion based upon limited highlights which made him appear better than he may actually be. I felt that with guys like Neilson and Andrus, their limitations and overall skill sets seem to have gone to plan (my own idea of their roles) but with Nixon I just had higher expectations. Likely I need to move my baseline for him.

You're disappointed in Nixon? He's made some great heads up plays this year and moves well without the ball. I think he looks great.

You're disappointed because you didn't see him play in HS. He wasn't that good and certainly not very athletic. I'm impressed that he's getting important minutes, is rebounding fairly well and playing decent defense. If he can get to the point where he's a reliable three point shooter, he'll have a nice career at BYU.

                            Fair enough. Baseline moving.

I made the same mistake with Worthington last year. I assumed that because he was recruited by Butler he would be good. lol.

                              • My brother is in Maui for the tourney and they went to the team hotel today and my little nephew saw Tyler Haws and asked for a pic. Haws said to him "I know you, you are Kid ___". My nephew was giddy and my brother after snapping a pic asked how Haws knew him to which Haws said "I follow him on Instagram". Pretty cool response and made my nephews year.

I don't think anyone involved hoped Haws gets an injury to protect a record.
