I wonder if we can assume that Toolsen is going to walk-on? If he doesn't try the mission thing again that is going to make scholarship management more difficult. I wonder if Cory Calvert becomes a casualty? I would like to see him get another year to prove himself. Do you know if Nixon plans on going on a mission after this year?

Oh and Goat, who is your pick for newcomer of the year to BYU?
I think Corey Calvert is a likely potential casualty. Plenty of other PG and shooters off the bench options.

I think Aytes will be BYU's best newcomer, or at least he better be if BYU has any prayer of making the NCAA next year.

      • Hmm. I suppose a potential silver lining to Toolsen playing earlier than expected is that we could get one more blue chipper in a couple years to fill the gap. Who wouldn't jump at the chance to play with the LP all stars? (other than the #2 pick in the draft)

LOL. I won't argue against that one.

          • So according to Charles Abuou - per some CB'er that talked with him in a restaurant over the weekend - Corbin Kaufusi is one of the most impressive if not the most impressive player he's seeing in offseason workouts.

So I guess we can confirm that CK will be gunning for a roster spot and that he's a legitimate contender. At 6'10 260 on a team that is desperate for athletic bigs, I can see no downside in this equation.

He should just focus on basketball. I always thought that was his best sport.

There was a receiver for Louisville a couple of years ago. They used to throw him fades all the time

I look forward to seeing him play, particularly against Gonzaga.

Mike Jenkins was 6'10" 375, but he didn't play.

Was he any good at it? If he is reputed to be the best big man as the original post claimed, that is concerning. If however it was more of a this walk on kid is playing and is actually decent, then that is something different. If Jamal Aytes is not clearly the best big man, there are going to be some problems.

Yes he was. I also think he has more of a basketball build.

Either way, I wouldn't put much stock in some rumor overheard by a CB poster and delivered here third-hand by that fluffball oxcoug.
