I don't understand why fans hate stuff like this. Lighten up! It's funny. Don't take everything so serious. BYUtv is awesome! I love how BYU takes chances on originality and trying new things.

Boomshakalaka- What a great idea to kick of the season. Imagine being a recruit and seeing that. Great stuff!
( FYI I most likely wrote that incoherently and will be properly corrected forthwith. Thanks)

That was great. Skyler Halford really looks like a mormon boy from Utah County.

        • I'm interested in seeing Worthington play. He comes off as a clown in everything I have seen him in so I am anxious to see what he's like on the court.

Same. I think Worthington will be a good one.

            • Coach is talking about Worthington in preseason interviews a lot more than I expected him to.

True, but it's not like we have many options in the front court.

Is that surprise or neccesity? I am normally optimistic and I think that this team could be a decent club, even good enough to win a game in the NCAA tourney, but even if Worthington isn't real good he is going to have to play due to the paucity of bigs.

                  • IIRC, Worthington was also offered by Butler, who has a pretty long history of having solid, hard-nosed post players that rebound and play good defense.

Plus he was an all state OL IIRC. He's definitely no Mika though and plays well below the rim.

I don't know. I guess it was a surprise to me. I figured the top four PT at the 4-5 would be Mika, Austin, Sharp, KC. So is Worthington higher than the 5th man on that list? I guess that would have surprised me a little going into the season. So I'm taking it as a good thing.

I think I can agree that the kid will be able to contribute at some level. But I am expecting his minutes to usually be a function of whether or not Austin and Mika can stay out of foul trouble. It will also be matchups. When BYU wants to go big the reality is BYU only has 3 possible big men to play so my guess is Worthington will see some minutes. I think Worthington will play a role of being tough, rebounding and playing physical defense. Given his innexperience with the college game my guess is that will result in foul trouble but I only think he will see 6-10 mpg so that will be ok.

I also think Sharp will play less next year than this past year. There will be some matchups that will lead to Sharp getting minutes but I think that for the most part BYU will play Austin and Kyle Collinsworth at the 4 with Mika and Sharp getting minutes there based upon matchups or foul trouble situations.

I will also add that I think the kid may develop and really thought that his style of play would have complimented the undersized 4 BYU was recruiting so hard who chose UNLV. I think Worthington can develop into a really hard nosed defender who rebounds well but playing alongside a 4 who likely needs help in post defense but is able to score really effectively would have been a boon for BYU over the next few years once those two got some experience.

                            • Sharp's the confusing one to me. I always hated him and didn't like that Rose played him so much. Then I started warming up to him and just when I was coming around, Rose started cutting his time until he became a non-factor.

                              • I think with Sharp at the 4, Mika at the 5, and KC at the 3 we are just going to rebound the shit out of the ball this year. I hope Austin can become dependable this year and that Worthington isn't a bust.
