  • I guess I haven't been paying attention - is Hartsock on the coaching staff?
Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

      Mika has that covered already:

Yeah, I just tuned in for the second half. But that was a quick 3 fouls. Can't have that in conference play.

He is on the staff as a student assistant.

Buck up dude. I am liking this team more and more. I love that we have multiple guys that can handle the ball. All of our perimeter players have the ability to get to the rim which I like. Carlino is looking great. I like that he's finishing at the rim. The defense is coming together. They have some things to work out but they're going to be much better than last year's team. With Bartley and Winder we have the ability to pick up teams full court. We can stay in man. And I like the way Mika and even Austin are rotating to help from the weak side. Mika showed what he can do tonight. I really think he'll be a double double guy most nights. He's going to have other nights where he is on the bench saddled with fouls, but if he can play under control he's going to have some big nights. For most of last year the 3 wasn't falling and we struggled mightily. I don't think that will be the case this year. We'll be able to create offense by putting the ball on the floor and also getting to the line. I expect BYU to shoot a lot of free throws this year. I am getting excited. Can't wait for the opener Friday.

              • one of the best things about going to a game during Jimmermania was that you honestly never knew what he was going to do.

With Luke Worthington, I honestly never know what he is going to do but for some reason it isn't as fun as Jimmermania.

                • It was a useless game that didn't tell us much, other than Mika is going to be a stud. I hate that he's going on a mission next year. I'm kind of rooting for a crisis of faith. Can someone send him a link to Mormon Stories?

Besides some pretty impressive missed layups, his airball hook shot was particularly dazzling.

When you say missed "layups" are you counting the ones that bounced down off the bottom of the backboard? Not sure if those are really "layups."

A fair point. Perhaps in terms of proximity to the rim they started as a layup opportunities, but by the time the play was completed, technically probably not layups.

Perhaps it is the kid's personality, charm and persona but I just love Worthington. He actually doesn't suck. He is clearly no Ian Harward, James Anderson or even Derrick Dawes. He really sucks bad at scoring but for a true freshman he is more than adequate on everything else. Even when he gets the ball you can see how well he is at creating space for himself by using his body and creating good passing angles. Unfortunately he might be the only player I have ever seen whose genuine offensive skills are worse than mine. I think he will be a good defender and a more than serviceable back up, unfortunately even if he plays perfect defense in a game of one on one, the best result he can hope for is a tie.

But I still love the kid and actually think he will be fine at BYU as long as he plays his role.

Yea don't be such a spoil sport, try a little optimism. KC will last two minutes per foul, not one minute.
