I include Checketts because he has some good connections and he will talk soccer. Jake Scott really isn't too bad either.

I do fear that the afternoon drive show will be 90% Jazz talk. I like the Jazz and all, but I would like a little more of a mix than the current 1320 gives me.

I don't care for Checkets much. I've been more likely to listen to 700 since he is on 1320.

If they keep one, Hans stays and Jan goes.

I'd eliminate Rome at mid-day and keep it local if the can't steal Dan Patrick from 700. But that's just my preference as I'm not a big Rome fan. I don't know what to do in the afternoon. It's lame when it is a pure Jazz radio team. OTOH, some of the Jazz guys are more interesting than Monson, who I don't listen to at all anymore. Whatever they do, I hope they eliminate their tradition of interviewing Randy Rigby from the Jazz ever week and bring KOC on less often. How many times can you hear the same answer or the same no comment?

They need to do a better job getting guest interviews and that is the one thing they did/do well on the afternoon show on 700. Their ESPN connection likely helps them there and the Jazz radio station doesn't have that.
I'm a Rome fan. It will be interesting to find out where he ends up in the shuffle. I cannot imagine him not being on the radio in Utah.

This whole post sounds like another story.
Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

I like Spence Checketts a lot. He is funny and his transition was seamless from 700 (he was the only guy I listened to). PK is way too hyper for my taste. I would like the following:

            Hans/Gunther
            DJ/Monson
            Checketts/Scotty G
Locke/Anybody but marble mouth (Ben Douche-Bagley)

I might be in the minority but I like David Locke and Monson. Locke is annoying but knowledgable and Monson is a mild enough radio personality to make him passable.

OTOH, listening to the former Ute and Cougar football players talk basketball can be painful. I thought Mekeli Wesley did an OK job with his guest spots last year. I wonder if they can get another basketball guy. But I can't think of any local players who are good at radio. And if they are, I don't think the jobs pay that much.

I wonder if Monson/DJ might work out. Can't listen to either one alone or with a young kid. Just doesn't work. And I get sick of PK's schtick, even though he can be good at times.

Yes.... Everything will now be 1280. Jazz games, everything.
That is too bad, I really liked the different choices we had. It has only been a few years ago that they split if I remember right. I don't care for DJ & PK. I really like OC on 1280. I love Gunther, he is funny and is very honest in his football critique. I like Jake Scott, Scotty Gerard, and dislike everyone else. I really hope that Monson is off the air. I can't stand listening to him. I don't care to listen to national guys, so I liked the local flavor even if they were subpar in most people's opinions.

Monson's biggest flaw IMO is that he isn't honest. He plays both sides on the radio but tries to remain the journalist-of-integrity in his newspaper columns. He's boring too, but I prefer boring to PK.

Jacob DJ is the best in the market. He does very well by himself.

Jan has made huge strides and I believe is a good compliment to Gunther in that slot. Together they have the best football takes on local radio. I personally would miss that show if either of them were let go.

I've heard Hans has offers here and out of state. It wouldn't surprise me if he ends up somewhere else. If Jan goes I think Gunther would partner up nicely with Monson. OC would also do a good job with Monson.

Frankly I like 1280's current lineup. I just wish there was a way to integrate DJ without any of the getting the axe.

I like the morning and afternoon shows, but do not like Monson at all. I'd be happy if they left OC and Hans in the morning and Gunther and Jan in the afternoon.

I'm just wondering if guys from 1320 will get preference over the current 1280 lineup, despite the move to 1280. I'm glad I'm not making those decisions because no matter whom they choose a percentage of the listening audience will be disappointed.

I really like DJ - and think he is OK doing his own show. But he really shines with someone else. About 30-40% of the time, PK is good and they are great together. Then PK decides he has to try to be funny and destroys the show 15-20 minutes at a time giggling to himself about a joke he made earlier or carrying on with something that MAY have been funny the first time he said it (and maybe even the second) but now he just sounds like a broken record 3 year-old who cracks himself up with fart jokes.

While I am not necessarily advocating getting rid of OC or Hans, I think either would be probably be great with DJ.

If they are going to go back in time and bring someone back, it needs to be that Ian guy who was on 1320 for a while. He had some great connections to some very good guests. And I enjoyed most of what he had to say.

Overall, I don't listen much anymore. I can only take so much PK and then I have to turn him off for a few weeks. Same with Monson. They others can be good at times. But if sports radio just went away, I'm not sure how much I would miss it.
