  • New 1280 lineup...

Who do you want to see retained?

I want DJ and PK (am I the only one who likes PK?) in the morning, Gunther, Hans and OC in the mid day and then Checketts and Scott in the evenings.

Tony Parks, Scotty G and Ben Bagley can all go away. Monson is probably done no matter what. Jan... I dunno.

Also, they should keep 960 and make it BYU centric... Jan could move to that station.

Who else would you like to see do a BYU centric radio show?

PK sent me on an all-expenses-paid trip to NYC. I will always like him.

Is 1280 and 1320 merging or something?

Yes.... Everything will now be 1280. Jazz games, everything.

I don't know who I would want. Haven't listened to any of them in a while. I just couldn't take the PK-DJ comedy routine anymore. They really are bad at it.

I do listent to Hans on occasion.

DJ and PK are a team and they have to keep them together, probably. Neither one is any good alone.

I don't care for Checkets much. I've been more likely to listen to 700 since he is on 1320.

If they keep one, Hans stays and Jan goes.

I'd eliminate Rome at mid-day and keep it local if the can't steal Dan Patrick from 700. But that's just my preference as I'm not a big Rome fan. I don't know what to do in the afternoon. It's lame when it is a pure Jazz radio team. OTOH, some of the Jazz guys are more interesting than Monson, who I don't listen to at all anymore. Whatever they do, I hope they eliminate their tradition of interviewing Randy Rigby from the Jazz ever week and bring KOC on less often. How many times can you hear the same answer or the same no comment?

They need to do a better job getting guest interviews and that is the one thing they did/do well on the afternoon show on 700. Their ESPN connection likely helps them there and the Jazz radio station doesn't have that.

Back in the day 1280 was KNAK and 1320 was KCPX and they both played top 40. ANybody else remember Skinny Johnny Mitchell's nighttime show on KCPX? He once swore at me on the phone, but that is another story.
                PLesa excuse the tpyos.

They need to burn it all down and start from scratch. Sports radio in Utah is worse than anywhere else I have tuned in.

Yep. I preferred KCPX. Can't remember why.

SO did I. Not sure I can recall why either.

Vegas sports radio makes 1280KZN look like WEEI.

This isn't the 1940's radio nostalgia thread.

Please get rid of PK. The guy is the worst sports radio personality in this market. No one else is even close to as bad. If he is the morning show option, I will stop listening. OC and Gunther both do a really good job and I would love to see them continue. I also like Hans Olson and think there should be a place for him on the radio. Jan may have some of the best sports knowledge, but he isn't on the level of OC, Gunther, or Hans at expressing his views in an entertaining manner. I would like to see him kept on in some capacity.

I'm hoping that Monson, Scott Gerard, Tony Parks, and Ben Bagley are off the air like PK. Don't have much of an opinion on Jake Scott or Spence Checketts.

Of course not, which is why I am talking abotu the 60s and 70s.
