This is fascinating. Let me get you and Funk on the record here: Are you saying that based on Krysko's 2011-2102 season, all circumstances considered, you believe it is reasonable to conclude that Krysko will "soon" be fired, like Giacoletti and Boylen were? If so, what does "soon" mean to you? Do tell!

Just for the record. Are you making no conclusion, or are you concluding that Krysto will be the coach of Utah in 4 years--just based on what we know. As an unbiased observer of the Ute program, I'd have to wager on Krysto being gone by then.

Are you asking for a prognostication based upon his current record? If he does not significantly improve his record from year to year? Or if something magical happens and he wins the Pac12?

Won't last year act as a barometer for improvement? Or are you saying that the Utes will likely keep their current coach no matter his record in four years?

I think it’s naïve to assume that anyone (Gottfried, Bennett, Rice) could have retained, recruited or won more games than Krsyko did in his first year, given the circumstances. I was/am somewhat relieved that Krsyko was able to get Jordan Loveridge and a few other solid recruits, that he has some quality assistant coaches. I am more relived that Utah finally has a plan for a practice facility and is looking to dump more money into the program. I certainly feel better about the program today, than I did a year ago.

Who knows if Krsyko will be around in 4 years? It’s possible he could be fired, it’s also possible that in that amount of time he takes another job with the NBA or somewhere else. Isn’t it a bit premature to be speculating on that one year in?

Next year will be a struggle, Utah will finish under .500 again, but hopefully with some positive momentum.

By precedent, no postseason after Year 3 should mean he gets the boot right then. I doubt that will happen, but if Year 4 gets an NIT bid, he gets Year 5, but no extension and carries lame-duck status. If there is no NCAA bid in Year 5, we won't renew his contract and we'll be in the market for another coach.

Best case scenario is that we arrive a year ahead of schedule in Year 2 or 3 and make the postseason in some fashion. Worst case is another single-digit win season in Year 2, coupled with some untimely transfers. Hill has to be thinking exit strategy at that point, either for himself or Larry.

Also, I love it when people say "all circumstances considered" and don't place some of the blame on Larry for creating those circumstances.

I'll admit that Larry K made some mistakes in his first year and created some of the circumstances that lead to last years dreadful season, if you'll admit that Chris Hill deserves our support for the Krysko hire, knows what's best for the program and maybe we should give the coach a chance?

He did make mistakes, never said he didn't.

                    Regarding Hill, you Funk said:

He is 0/2 after Majerus so far with both of those being huge misses. Unfortunately, he is looking like he will soon be 0/3.
I asked you Funk to support the bolded language. In response, you said:

The program-worst first season and endless departures are probably a good indicator to most reasonable people.
                    I then asked you:

Are you saying that based on Krysko's 2011-2102 season, all circumstances considered, you believe it is reasonable to conclude that Krysko will "soon" be fired, like Giacoletti and Boylen were?
You then gave your first response above. I don't think you answered the question! Funk, of course, knows when he is beaten () and left the thread.

Whatever. We are all Ute fans and it has been a hard time. I hope my optimism proves warranted. If not, I will be facing pressure to buy you and Funk an expensive dinner somewhere.

I'm not sure Hill knows what's best for the program by a long shot. Attendance was on a steady drop even when we were winning and not only did he strike out in getting his top choice when Maji left and Giac was fired, the people he settled on were quickly let go.

This is a program that went from easily being one of the top 20 of all-time, to perhaps the worst program in a major conference. Who's the common denominator in all of this? Hill is (And so are the fans/boosters, but that's another story for another time).

If Larry doesn't work out, there's no way in hell I want Hill having sole authority to find a new coach. I think a lot of people feel the same way, and it's impossible to have it both ways -- the trust that he made the right hire in Larry and the distrust to have him make another. Those sentiments cannot possibly co-exist.

You're a great tonic for Ute fans, because now L.A. and I have something we can agree on. I'd rather we come together through winning big and experiencing championships, but in absence of that, silly remarks by BYU fans will have to suffice.

Stop it with the semantics. I long ago answered your question. Do you want to get into a debate over the meaning of the word "soon"?

No, that word can remain undefined. I guess you are indeed saying that based on Krysko's 2011-2102 season, you believe it is reasonable to conclude that Krysko will be fired, like Giacoletti and Boylen were, within roughly the same time period. Fair enough. I hope you are wrong. We shall see.
