I was interested to see how you would spin Randy Bennett as a bad hire, while maintaining your stance that Dave Rice is a great option.

This has nothing to do with Randy Bennett. He was just the example I used. This is any coach coming from a small time conference it could be the CAA, SOCON, etc.

I think it's fantastic that the Utes want a WCC coach.

I think the WCC is a terrific feeder conference. Coaches have to start somewhere and I am glad that the smaller conferences can provide good coaches to the bigger conferences.

Seems like Dave Rose was able to make the transition pretty well from small programs to big program. So there may well be hope for us after all.

This has been my stance the whole time. It is SeattleUte's conundrum. A conference that he has esteemed as dross will now prove to be the very place Utah turns for help and guidance.

I have to give credit to Utah, though. At least they didnt go the traditional route and bring in a BYU person to help one of their athletic programs.

I don't think he is saying he is a bad hire. I think he is worrying out loud about what might happen to Dave Rose now that his team is in a small time conference. Don't worry CJ, the LDS gene pool is the main determinant of success at BYU, not recruiting or anything else.

We will skim the cream from anywhere we can at this point. Although, much as I love Urban Meyer, I'm not anxious for Utah to affiliate with Mid-American Conference.

I agree the Utes have some serious limitations, but we can be a good team and a good program again. The days of us dominating a conference and making yearly sweet 16 runs are over. The expectations are going to have to change with a tougher conference. Expectations really should adjust to conference title every 4-5 years, NCAA tournament 3/4 years, and a sweet 16 run every 4-5 years. The right coach can get that done at Utah even with the limitations.

You really are dumb. Of course I use Randy Bennett as my example if you look directly above my post someone posted the link about him being in negotiations with Utah. Should I pull some random coach out of my ass and use them? Or should I use an example that most can relate too?

And no it was not a dig at all at Utah, it was an observation about coaches coming from smaller conferences. Sean Miller mentioned this when he went from Xavier to Arizona as well, he said it took him a few years to realize that he had a chance to land guys like Derrick Williams.
