In other words, do you not think Morrill would have done at least as well as those two in that same span? Morrill would have had Bogut.

No, but you prefaced your post with "last seven years." Would Morrill have done as well or better than Giacoletti or Boylen? Doubtful on the former, and Disco Stu wouldn't have scheduled up like Boylen did in our NCAA Tourney year.

We've had two lousy coaches since Majerus, yet their highs trump anything Morrill has done at USU.

It sounds stupid to you because it's 100 percent gospel truth. Morrill might have given us 20 plus wins every year and a few NCAA Tournaments, but if he doesn't get us more than two tournament wins (doubtful, since he hasn't even equalled that amount at USU), what's the point in having a better coach if he doesn't deliver significantly better results?

Do you think the talent has been equal at Utah and Utah State then over the same time period?

Does Stew want to coach at the MWC or PAC10 level? Could he succeed at those levels? Just wondering what everyone thinks. I don't recall how he did at CSU.

He did alright. Only one losing record (his first year) and two 20 win seasons to finish his career there. Only made the NIT twice for postseason play though.

Why should I pray for an overrated coach that will get us a 300 level non conference SOS and bolt for the first Big Sky opportunity that becomes available.

It is true that Stew seems to have chosen to stay at a certain level of success. Utah can do much better than him, IMO.

Morrill would be a good hire for you guys. He'd stop the bleeding and as he approached 20 win seasons, he could upgrade his recruiting. Like Wally, I'm concerned for my rival. Another bad hire and you guys might not recover. I'd go with a guarantee, even if he has limited upside.

I don't think Morrill would leave USU. He's got it made in Logan.

Like I said, this hire will be the most important of Chris Hill's career.

I too would take Stew over some hot assistant somewhere.

Let's pretend Rose just left to coach at Indiana. Would you want Stew at BYU (assuming he were otherwise "qualified," i.e., temple recommend-holding)?

I would consider it, unless there is something that Ute Fans know that I don't know. Why is there such disdain for Stew? He seems to be able to do pretty well with limited resources. Going to Utah or BYU would change the game for him.
                                Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."
