Let's pretend Rose just left to coach at Indiana. Would you want Stew at BYU (assuming he were otherwise "qualified," i.e., temple recommend-holding)?

Our programs are at different levels right now. It's not a fair comparison.

No, but there aren't many other options for BYU. If he'd change his scheduling philosophy then I wouldn't mind. Going to the WCC we're going to need some quality OOC games to build a resume for March. I think Stew would take his same Utah State approach, win 25 games and bank on winning the conference tourney to get in. And that would bother me. Stew could get by with that on the strength of the Pac 10 if he were at Utah. My issues with Stew aren't the way he coaches. I think he's a hell of a coach. It's his program management that I find bothersome.

If/when Rose ever leaves BYU, they're going to be in a pinch to find a quality card carrying coach.

I actually think Arnold in Hawaii would be the best get, but I am hopeful that Rose sticks around long enough for someone like Tim LaComb perhaps to warrant a chance.

I agree. That's why I wonder if he'd even want the PAC12. I am not sure he's not happy to stay in the WAC.

If BYU or Utah went ofter Stew he would say no. He really really likes USU. He is a god there and he doesn't have nearly the pressure he would have a BYU or Utah. I think he is under contract until like 2015 or something as well.

I agree that he would turn down BYU and Utah as both would offer a better conference affiliation. He is probably thrilled about the WAC getting weaker in basketball and that will make him want to stay in Logan even more.

Of note, while he was at Arizona, he was offered the interim head job at Arizona when Lute retired but he turned it down (I believe because he didn't think he would be given a real chance at the job).

I don't think Hill will hire another assistant to be Utah's HC. Just my guess.

So has the decision been made already? I've read in more than one place that it's a done deal. Boylen will be sent packing at the end of the season. Has anyone heard more than fan/booster griping at this point?

Some posters with inside sources that have been spot on with a few other things in the B-Ball program(ie some of the defections last year, etc), have said that he will finish the season and be gone at that point.

Would Bob Knight be the shot in the arm that the program needs? He's 70, so maybe Hill could also announce some sort of a succession plan. I doubt he wants to coach again though.
