Well, Goodman has pulled that tweet, so maybe he's changed his mind. Boylen's friends certainly don't think Hill walks on water.“There is a great deal of difference in believing something still, and believing it again.”

Is there any reason to believe Rose's success at BYU translates to success at other schools?Originally posted by LiveCoug View PostWell, now we find out if the Dave Rose rumors are true. Stay blue Dave!“There is a great deal of difference in believing something still, and believing it again.”

Why would they want to do that?Originally posted by scottie View PostWould Utah be able to double Rose's salary?“There is a great deal of difference in believing something still, and believing it again.”

I think so. One thing is for sure, if he is entertaining the thought of moving on...now is the time. He needs to ride the Jimmer-Express to a fat paycheck and a position in the PAC and not to a lesser conference (WCC).Originally posted by LA Ute View PostIs there any reason to believe Rose's success at BYU translates to success at other schools?I'm your huckleberry.

because the Pac 10 is proving to be so much superior lately. Why leave a good program for a program in the dumps?Originally posted by FN Phat View PostI think so. Let me know when you find a coach with a guarantee of success. Rose has 4 conference championships in 6 seasons as a head coach. The other two years he finished 2nd. Johnson and Taylor have 5 conference championships in 28 seasons.Originally posted by LA Ute View PostIs there any reason to believe Rose's success at BYU translates to success at other schools?

It seems like if Rose was going to leave, it would be for a high-profile job. Even in the Pac, I don't see Utah as that job."It's true that everything happens for a reason. Just remember that sometimes that reason is that you did something really, really, stupid."

Don't get me wrong, I think Rose is a really fine coach and I admire him. If Utah hired him I would be happy, but I just don't see the fit.Originally posted by Clark Addison View PostLet me know when you find a coach with a guarantee of success. For one thing, he'd incur the wrath of BYU fans. (Yes, figuratively, heads would explode among many of the Cougar faithful.) I think it's kind of rotten for a coach to leave a school for a job at its most bitter rival. (I know, Rick Pitino, but he had the Celtics in between.) Besides, he'd have to rebuild Utah's program under the demanding eye of money men like Huntsman. Why would Rose take all that on, when, with more success at BYU, he'll have a shot at schools that can pay him lots more than Utah can, without all that grief?
Besides, Utah really needs someone with a proven record of winning in both the regular season and the NCAA tournament, and in recruiting the kind of talent needed to do that. Rose isn't there yet. Recruiting to BYU is different from recruiting anywhere else, and tournament wins have so far mostly eluded Rose (maybe that will change this year). Again, I'd be happy to see him coach at Utah, but I'd feel more nervous about him than I would about someone like Tony Bennett or Trent Johnson.
So the Utah job just doesn't seem right for him or for Utah.“There is a great deal of difference in believing something still, and believing it again.”

Honestly, it may have still ended up helping us out. The timing to hire a guy is better now than it was 2 years ago. Someone on Utefans posting that Hill has talked to Mark Gottfried. He isn't my first choice of the guys thrown out there, but I would be very happy with that hire. If Gottfried is a worst case scenario, well consider me thrilled.Originally posted by Surfah View PostGoodman's latest tweet:

He isn't going to leave then. What high profile job is going to hire Rose. I think Rose is a fantastic coach, but the really high profile jobs usually hire bigger names than Rose.Originally posted by FMCoug View PostIt seems like if Rose was going to leave, it would be for a high-profile job.
