I'm choosing to mostly ignore your fatuity here and instead overwhelm you with so much data that you'll maybe, just maybe, realize that you have reams to read on this subject before you can contribute meaningfully to any conversation on this topic.

With Pat Knight out at Texas Tech, it appears Billy Gillispe is the top choice to replace him."They're good. They've always been good" - David Shaw.
Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

Some interesting notes:
Blaine Taylor could be a candidate at Colorado, which obviously would impact the rivalry game with the Buffs.
Ray Giacoletti may be heading back to Eastern Washington"They're good. They've always been good" - David Shaw.

Why would Blaine Taylor be in line for a job that has no apparent hope of being vacant? They're throwing parades for Tad Boyle, not bringing out the lynch mob. Has he been mentioned for other jobs?Originally posted by DrumNFeather View PostSome interesting notes:

Not sure...just read it somewhere *might* have been old news now that I think about it. I'm just a big Taylor fan...and I'm sure he's not our guy, but ODU has the toughness Utah has lacked for years.Originally posted by Top Ute View PostWhy would Blaine Taylor be in line for a job that has no apparent hope of being vacant? Also, he's low on the list, but Dick Hunsaker getting a mention for the Red Raiders as well.Originally posted by DrumNFeather View PostWith Pat Knight out at Texas Tech, it appears Billy Gillispe is the top choice to replace him."They're good. They've always been good" - David Shaw.

ESPN's list today of "Options for Texas Tech", maybe also a good list of options for Utah?:
* Billy Gillispie: Nothing is for sure and the search process is just beginning but we can't see Gillispie not being a potential choice.
* Rodney Terry: The Texas assistant was considered for the Houston job last season.
* Russell Springmann: Another UT assistant could be a candidate; an accomplished recruiter, Springmann has had a hand in many of Texas' top recruiting classes.
* Ken McDonald: Has an outstanding 2011 recruiting class at WKU but could the former UT assistant move back to the Big 12?
* Doc Sadler: Would the Nebraska coach want to stay in the Big 12? Possibly.
* Tony Benford: The Marquette assistant has been instrumental in implementing the MU-Texas pipeline under Buzz Williams.
* Buzz Williams: Marquette head coach with extensive ties to Texas, but would he leave the Big East for Lubbock?
* Gregg Marshall: Wichita State's fourth-year head coach is a hot name, but might be waiting for a more ideal job.
* Joe Dooley: The highly regarded Kansas assistant has been a head coach before (at East Carolina from 1995-99).
* Tom Penders: Out of coaching last year, but spent 16 years combined at Texas and Houston and has 10 20-win seasons.
* Dick Hunsaker: A great college coaching record, but would the Utah Valley head coach be a big enough splash?
* Keith Dambrot: Akron's head coach who college basketball writer Dan Wetzel named the top mid-major coach in 2009.
* Steve Green: Proven JUCO head coach at South Plains College and former Division-I assistant who knows Texas well.
* Grant McCasland: Consistent winner at Midland college and now at Midwestern State, but lacks major-college experience.

Hey, Utes - why all the angst over the possibility of hiring Dave Rice to replace Boylen? I realize you're going to the big, bad PAC12, but I think some of your fans have an inflated view of the prestige of your program right now. It's like those homeowners trying to sell their homes in today's market that keep saying "two years ago it appraised for....""It's devastating, because we lost to a team that's not even in the Pac-12. To lose to Utah State is horrible." - John White IV

Many fans feel that the next HC at Utah needs to be someone with D1 head coaching experience. Some feel that if you're just going to hire another assistant, you might as well give Jim Boylen another year.Originally posted by kccougar View PostHey, Utes - why all the angst over the possibility of hiring Dave Rice to replace Boylen? I didn't realize Ute fans were clamoring for Thad Motta or Jamie Dixon. But thanks for telling us we should be fine to settle on a career assistant.Originally posted by kccougar View PostHey, Utes - why all the angst over the possibility of hiring Dave Rice to replace Boylen? That came out harsher than I meant it to, but honestly, I don't see how a Dave Rice hire would be so universally bad. He is a very good coach. But Ute fans are hell-bent on hiring a homerun coach when I'm not convinced they are out there to be had right now for Utah.Originally posted by Jarid in Cedar View Post
