Lunardi seems to be taking Gottliebs opinion to task in everything he writes today. It is an insider article, but here is a blurb,

In the meantime, don't tell me BYU doesn't belong on the top line of the current bracket. The Cougars have played 17 games (15-2) away from home and against good competition (SOS No. 12). Compare that to the fellow No. 1 seed contenders Duke (10-3 road/neutral, SOS No. 46) and Texas (8-4 road/neutral, SOS No. 23), and it should be clear why BYU moved up and both the Blue Devils and Longhorns dropped.

I like the rest of the article I posted where he embarrasses the teams that beat Texas. This is going to be fun watching their back and forth.

Utah State is certainly no Michigan State!

I was getting pissed listening to that podcast with he and Katz. In his examples BYU would lose to all those teams on the road. When Katz replies and what about if those teams came to Provo (cause Katz knows BYU has only lost 4 games there in 6 years under Rose), and Doug says they'd beat BYU.

Gottlieb is basically a Stephen A Smith lite. He says stuff to move the needle and clearly it is working.

If his argument is based mostly on tradition associated with a certain brand name, then he is right. BYU hasn't beaten many "good" teams this season, while, by definition, B10 and ACC teams will have victories over traditional powerhouses. Clearly where Gottlieb's myopia gets the better of him is that traditional powerhouses arent necessarily good this year, so based on SOS, wins against Top 50 RPI, etc...none of those other schools has the resume that BYU has.

Gottlieb is irrelevant in all of this. He has no say. BYU controls its destiny. If BYU wins out, it will be the #1 overall seed and easily a #1 seed in the West. The selection committee loves Jimmermania because Jimmer moves the needle, too. Coaches respect BYU as evidenced by the Coaches Poll. Sports writers respect BYU as evidenced by the AP Poll. Why do we care what Gottlieb or Dicky V thinks of BYU?

These guys can continue to critique BYU all they want. I'm going to the Marriott Center on Wednesday night to watch another BYU victory.

Without the 1-2 punch of Clemente AND Pullens, KState doesn't scare me. They haven't really found a way to replace Clemente's scoring and defense at the point.

I've got a permanent going.

I didn't expect to beat SDSU in their gym. That is as good as I have ever seen a BYU team play.

We're deadly on offense with Jimmer opening things up, Davies in the middle, and all the shooters.

Our D looks good. The zone looks great with Charles rebounding out of that other forward position.

Best backcourt in the nation, with both as seniors going into the tournament. Experience at every position.

Ranked #3 with people talking about us as a 1 seed.

I'm just giddy.

Non stop.

College basketball is unique in that nobody cares what you did in the regular season, and so much of the post season is left up to chance. I'm trying not to have too high of expectations. But all I can say is this is a blast.
