  • Bracketology: Duke Blue Devils fall off the No. 1 seed line - ESPN

BYU, coming off its season sweep of San Diego State, is No. 3 overall. The Cougars have the best nonconference schedule by far among the top line contenders and lead the nation with a whopping 14 road or neutral victories.
    that is why, Gottlieb.

That makes zero sense. This is like BYU fans who point to Pitt's ranking in 84.

      • When was the last time BYU was ranked third in the nation in March? I'll go with never. Truly strange things are afoot at the Circle Y.

What a great and entertaining season.

BYU has been ranked for 17 consecutive weeks. A BYU record.

Dick Vitale voted the Cougs 3rd after saying they didn't deserve a number 1 seed. Weird.

                  • Rome asks Rose whether Jimmer can compare to Clyde the Glide.....Rose sez Yes. Then he says Jimmer is way more of a relentless offensive scorer than Glide.

Clyde had a much purer looking outside shot though.

As a lifelong Blazer fan, I never wanted to see Glide taking a big 3 point shot. Terry Porter and his horrifying arm scar was the only one I trusted in a big spot, until Mario Elle showed up.

Kansas St. likely our 2nd round game. Analysis:
For those that have looked at all the NCAA brackets you will see that Kansas St. is almost always seeded in BYU's pod. It makes sense when you look at it in more depth. Here is why:

                          1. Kansas is pretty much a lock to get the #1 seed in the Southwest region.
                          2. Texas is pretty much a lock to get a #2 seed. They will not but a two Big-12 teams at #1 and #2 for the region (same reason they won't put San Diego St. and BYU in the same region). So Texas bounces West
                          3. Kansas St will not be matched up to play Kansas (KU) in the second round so they will also bounce West. They will not get matched up with Texas in the 7-10 slot either for the same reason so they will be in BYU's pod.

The only other possibility I see happening is for K-State to take the 7 seed from the Southwest region and I don't see that happening because again it is in KU's region.

I believe it is very likely that Kansas St is our 2nd round opponent. Even if BYU loses and Texas takes the #1 seed and we get a number 2 I still believe this will be the case due to the same analysis above (however, K-State will have the 7 seed)

KSU ccan cause us difficulties again this year. They defend well and like to defend. I suspect they will find this year's version of Jimmer different than last year's. Jimmer last year could not play big games close together. The mono was still wearing him out at the end of the year if he tried to put together big games. The Florida game made him tired and Pullens worked him. I also think they will find this year's BYU different than last year's. This year we can shoot from 3 at the 4 spot while still maintaining size. That is a big difference when you are playing a team that is long and physical. We also can score at the 5 spot with our best defensive 5. I don't want to play KSU but I'm not going to cry about it if we do. The teams I am most scared of are teams that are both talented and disciplined. I would rather not play Pitt, Duke, Wisconsin etc. because they are more talented versions of us. I'm not scared of Kansas or Texas.

Without the 1-2 punch of Clemente AND Pullens, KState doesn't scare me. They haven't really found a way to replace Clemente's scoring and defense at the point.

I do not want us to be ranked #1 to end the season, that's for sure. I'd be ok with us getting a 1 seed so long as we don't have to play K-State or George Mason in the second round.
BYU's best players were bigs. This team's best players are guards. Ladell Anderson was tired and at the end. The current coach kicks cancer's lethal ass and comes back asking for more.

That team never regained its mojo after its first loss. This team has been very resilient after two losses, the second of which was very similar to the UAB disaster.
