Wow what an exciting ending. It looked like they blew it by bobbling it in the backcourt.

    boylen saves his job!

Holy crap, what a lucky shot to finish a crappy possession. Good for the Utes.

No doubt. I am still trying to see if we know an offensive set.

lol I never felt sorry for New Mexico or Steve Alford.

Actually, Alford has done a pretty crappy job this year with a nice constellation of blue chippers. He probably has more ESPN 90s than anyone in the conference including San Diego State.

Is dislike for Steve Alford the one thing that can unite Y and U fans?

                Go Utes!

Ps I haven't followed but has Hines always been this good? His final shot aside, he had a great game. Where has this guy been all season?

Ha! This was a great game because one of these two teams got to lose. Can't stand Alford.

Hines has shown flashes of brilliance very occastionally the past two years. The Utes are an ideal set up for a new coach, just like St. John's was with nine or whatever horribly underachieving relatively talented seniors. This team has the pieces of a team that could surprise next year. But I don't have any confidence Boylen can pull it together.

Utah's best player was out, and it's not unusual for players like Hines to rise to the occasion in the short term when confronted with such adversity.

Did anyone else watch the mtn wrap up show? There were highlights of all the mens and Title 9 basketball games around the conference.

Apparently, the Ute womens team beat the Lobos womens team....on a buzzer beater 3.

                      What are the odds?

                          As other have stated, wow.

I'm proud of the way the team didn't give up. That horrendous start in the 2nd half is usually a sign that this team has accepted the loss. Good to see them get rewarded for not giving up.

Ruining the Lobos chances at the Big Dance isn't a consolation for the season, but I have to admit that it's more fun to be a spoiler than to be spoiled.

I don't dislike Alford; in fact, I think he's a great coach and have never had a problem with anything he's said. Now, if he were Dave Bliss, then I would send a mock-o-gram to the basketball offices of UNM. That guy was an ass.

Before this game the Lobos had no chance for the big dance unless they won the tournament.

The Lobos were considered a bubble team. Granted, because the BCSification of college basketball, UNM not being in one of the approved conferences does make your statement most likely true.

I think you have to give Boylen another year after a victory like this.
