Pangos was a 4 star with a 92 grade on ESPN. If he had not played his high school ball in Canada he was a top 25 recruit.
Gary Bell was also a 4 star with a 94 grade on ESPN. Again a top flight commit.
Josh Perkins another 4 star.
Sabonis was a known commodity throughout Europe he would have been a top 10 player if he played high school in the US.
Kyle Wiltjer is a 5 star transfer from Kentucky and is the teams leading scorer
Byron Wesley is a 4 star senior transfer from USC and is the teams 2nd leading scorer

Few has done it with castoffs, Canadians and Euros. But they are all highly rated kids. He is not winning with 2 star recruits nor does he struggle getting big time kids to go to Spokane.

Right. Few's genius has not been in making gold out of garbage, it's been getting gold to come to Spokane. He's not winning head-to-head battles with UCLA, Duke, etc, but he's getting solid recruits.

But since he's in Spokane, he can't fill the whole roster with top talent, he's filling in the roster with a mix of projects/low-ceiling guys/etc. Utah beat him out this year for a big man out of Granger (Mawien) who is a project. I've never seen Wade play, but my sense is that he is less of a top end guy, more of a solid spot filler.

No, I'm sure it's possible he could be just as good. Like I said, I've never seen Wade play I'm just going off of who recruited him. Pangos was a much higher rated recruit, if you believe in those sorts of things.

His first couple of tourney teams in 2000 and 2001 were with diamonds in the rough guys but it has not been that way at Gonzaga for at least a decade.

Sure. But he was expected to be 100% following his prior surgery, too. So I guess what I'm saying is that the absence of news on Emery would have been better than this news.

This is disappointing. I always like to see young Cougars serve a full two year mission. In the case of extremely talented players, I would like to see them increase their spirituality even further by serving more than two years.
