    • Bingham is about to upset national powerhouse Bishop O'Connell from Washington DC. O'Connell has ESPN top 100 player and Maryland commit Romelo Trimble.

The Great Western Shootout in Orem this week is a showcase of some top talent. Ute fans you don't have any recruits playing because well your coach doesn't recruit Utah very well, but your rival the Colorado Buffaloes have pg commit Dominque Collier playing for Denver East.

BYU has Frank Jackson and TJ Haws from Lone Peak, Ryan Andrus from American Fork and Dalton Nixon from Orem all playing in the event.

Wow, Bingham's not even that great of a team. Not even top 10 in Utah.

Aren't some of those games on TV? Time to fire up the DVR.

              • LP about to go down against Overland Colorado. Not the same team without Mika and Emery.

Jackson looks quick to the hole, Haws has missed everything.

Also missing Talon Shumway who would have been the top B-ball player on just about every other team, he was nothing more than a role player for LP and Connor Toolson who was a great 3pt shooter.

TJ is 6-9 from two point range right now but 2-9 from 3.

                  Frank is 3-12 shooting.

I think that coach probably had a legit beef about Haws traveling, but it was a sweet shot either way after a very rough game for Haws.

                      • KiWatching a Great Western Shootout tonight a few observations.

Not overly impressed with Dalton Nixon. He is definitely a tweener at the next level, most liky a stretch four in Dave Roses offense. He does rebound well and can hit the three. However he absolutely can not put it on the floor.

Frank Jackson is an elite athlete who will only get better. He is only 15 and at times was the best player on the floor in his game. A game against Oconnell that has three kids going D1. He guarded ESPN 100 player Romelo Trimble and did a solid job.

Tj Haws struggled a bit with his shot tonight but he is special. Gets anywhere he wants on the floor and can get his shot off against anybody.

I was most surprised with Ryan Andrus. He was matched up against 6'9 260 pound De'Ron Davis. Over the summer Davis was the number 1 player in the country for the class of 2015. He was #15 overall regardless of class. Andrus did a very good job him, holding him to 12 points and 6 rebounds. Andrus also had 12 points including a tip in at the buzzer to win the game for AF along with 13 rebounds.

I still don't see it yet with Brendan Bailey not sure he is D1 caliber yet. Orems pg Quinn Peters was impressive he will play somewhere at the next level.

Best player I watched all night was Dominique Collier a pg committed to Utahs arch rival Colorado. He is explosive and has a great pull up jumper.

                        • One other thing. Ian Harwards brother plays for Orem. Remember Ian was 6'10 and 220 he really struggled to put on weight. His brother is 6'9 amd probably close to 300. Not very skilled but a bruiser down low.

Collier is a sweet shooter. Also, I have to think King will play college ball somewhere.

I agree about Jackson. He is a special talent who doesn't play like a 15 year old. He was never outclassed by Trimble and even looked better than Trimble at times.

I am not sure it was. It's tough to see where he picked up his dribble but I think it is exaggerated because of the long stride and the way he moved the ball from one side of his body over the defender to the other to get the shot off.
