Next year's team has some real potential. The seniors that we are losing off of this season's team are: Mag, Stewart, Knell, and Foos. Foos is the only one that I'm really going to miss. I gotta think that current Juniors Keita, Saunders, Baker, and Hall will all be back. Denim is 100% gone. But Catchings, I think there's at least a 50% chance he stays. I wonder if we even go into the portal to get another big name...It will be quite the team!

Edit: Add in ESPN #34 Xavion Staton and 4 star Chamberlain Burgess to next year's team too!

This is where my excitement lies. If KY is going to be great at coaching college basketball it is going to take him time to figure out the whole deal. This year is young and time will tell where this is going to go but with everybody's relative inexperience with it all (in that I include the coaching staff) BYU is likely to underachieve a bit from where its talent lies. I am hopeful that next season that is less of the case. Part of being good is continuity and next year BYU has the chance to be one of the more experienced teams, if they can keep the experienced players from bolting via the portal, and have significant experience playing together. I tend to agree with you that Catchings is likely to play one more season before bolting. A rotation of Hall, Saunders, Dybantsa, Catchings, Keita, Baker, Crawford, Boscovich, Staton and perhaps Kozlowski could be really special for BYU. It would have exceptional RM experience for leadership, maturity and direction. It would have great talent with a 1-2 punch of Dybantsa and Catchings as the top scorers and playmakers. It would also have depth to sustain foul trouble or reasonable short term injuries along the way. What I love is of that top 10 only two are not currently on campus learning to play the way KY wants and learning to play together. Of those 2 one is a supposed generational one and done talent, Dybantsa, and the other is a huge recruit that is raw and will brought along slowly IMO in Staton. That could be a recipe for a real breakthrough team for BYU. It offers the best of BYU's strengths, boring premature balding guys who overachieve through maximum effort-yes Richie Saunders we are looking directly at you, with perhaps the best of this brave new NIL/PROvo world.
