The first NET rankings are out and BYU is #48. That also puts us at #9 in the Big 12...right where the preseason rankings had us...Kenpom still has us at #34.

The 5 stars don’t look ready for the physicality. I liked Mag’s defensive effort when he played and I’d like to see more of him when it matters. I’m starting to understand why Baker gets the minutes he does. He’s mentally tough and unafraid to step up when things are not going well.Comment

Providence pretty much doubled BYU's shooting percentage in this game. So even though BYU had half the turnovers of Providence (4 vs 8) and out-rebounded them, they got blown off the court.
They have to learn to attack the aggressive defense to get good shots - and then make their mother-f-ing shots. Also, when you get an opportunity at the line, don't miss the front end of a 1-and-1!
Not sure what else they could have done defensively. Yeah as strange as it sounds the D wasn’t the issue. Could it be better? Sure but sometimes hot shooting happens. I am more frustrated that we were bullied by their D. The need to get comfortable with the physical play.
