No preseason accolades, either. There's a lot of unknowns going into the season, not least of all being the head coach. I'd rather be underrated than overrated to start the season.

I love these guys and they do a great job. They used to be primarily a Big 10 podcast but started chatting a bit about BYU when KY arrived. They've quickly learned that talking about BYU brings them more eyeballs and they post a ton of BYU content now, and it tends to be more objective than actual BYU podcasts. They seem to have a lot of decent sources, I learned from them about Demin, that he was coming and what BYU was going to pay him way before anyone else seemed to know.

So many great quotes in this episode btw. They really are all in after seeing Demin and Catchings. My favorite quote (they've long said BYU could land Dybantsa but have also wondered whether Provo will be enough for AJ) "A.J. Dybantsa, I get it now, you should go to Provo. I hope somebody has already sent him this video (of the Blue/White game)."

This is higher than where I would have Demin. But much like with Maluach above, it wouldn’t quite be an accurate description of where scouts are at this stage if I didn’t rank him in the top 30. There is significant interest in Demin’s ability to be a 6-8 point guard and playmaker at BYU this season. Where I’m worried is that I’m not totally sure how he scores the basketball yet. At any level, he’s never proven the ability to finish consistently on the interior or knock down shots. He’s willing to take them, but there hasn’t been much efficiency. I believe in the passing and vision in a big way, and that’s why he shows up here. The novelty of a potential point guard at this size makes him one of the players I’m most interested in watching this season. But there are some real questions scouts are looking for him to answer, even with their interest levels.

How nervous should I be about the Demin/Boskovic eligibility inquiries?

The NCAA is such a ridiculous organization. They cling to what little authority they still have in these obscure rules interpretation spaces instead of stepping up and providing the leadership they could to chart a path forward in the new revenue sharing world. I have very little faith they can be reasonable about this especially since BYU is not in the club that gets the kid glove treatment.

Not surprising but why doesn't the NCAA just take away years of eligibility? Instead of holding him out this year just say instead of 4 years of eligibility you now have 2 and let the kid play his two seasons and then go pro wherever his ability takes him.

Regardless, move Catchings to 4 and now start Richie. Your starters are Hall, Demin, Richie, Catchings and Keita. Bring Fous, Baker, Knell and Mag off the bench. Your emergency players are Crawford, Kozlowski, Triplett depending on needs.
