  • The refs are letting this game be super physical and grabby. And the way BYU shoots free throws I don’t blame WV for taking the foul-everything-in-sight approach.

    • With 23 seconds left, BYU has only shot 4 threes in the first half. And missed all of them.

      • Interesting that the first 2 possessions of the second half, BYU runs the offense with Richie effectively acting as the PG and Demin off-ball. Demin hits a 3 then Richie drives the lane and scores and WV immediately calls timeout.

            • BYU hits no 3Ps in the first half, but rides the Foos show in the paint to a 21 point victory over West Virginia at home. I like this win a lot. We need to be able to win multiple ways, and if we rely too much on the 3, then we will die by it. WVU had 10 more fouls on them and BYU had 12 more FT attempts, but that was largely due to our focus on feeding the ball to the post in the paint. BYU is looking like a legit team right now. While I don't personally agree with this 100%, the tournament committee often rewards teams that finish strong, so it'll be interesting to see if that holds true with our seed this season.

Fousseyni Traore gets the Player of the Game, for the 4th time this season. West Virginia just had no answer for him. I honestly did not think Foos was going to be able to handle the Big 12 bigs playing center, but he has proven more than adequate. As much fun as it is watching the 3s rain in, I could watch him dance in the paint all game long every game. He had the best PER, GSc, and DRtg. Keita had the best TS% (the stat they quoted for his season FG% is insane) and tied Foos for best DRtg. Mag had the best Ortg, although with zero points and zero assists I have no idea how.

Trevin Knell gets the Struggled to Perform award, for the 5th time. He was so quiet I didn't even notice he was out there. He had the worst PER, GSc, TS%, and DRtg. I said after the ASU game that we needed to save some of our 3Ps for other games, and that was definitely true for Knell. Saunders had the worst ORtg although while he wasn't at his best, he also wasn't terrible offensively. A lot of people are now saying that Richie Rich is gone after this season. While I'd love to him him back on next season's team, at his age, he has to go if he has a chance to get drafted.

The season summary average PER has been updated for the two games this week. Our top 5 of Saunders / Keita / Demin / Traore / Knell has not changed.

BYU is now 21-8 (12-6) and was #27 in Kenpom and #28 in NET. West Virginia was #50 / #46. As a home game, this is a solid Q2 win. Up next is an away game to Iowa State, who is 22-7 (12-6) and #11 / #10. This will be a crucial game to see who will get the #4 seed in the conference tournament.

              • A road game in Ames is not going to be easy. A win there would be a massive boost to our resume.

This seasons has been so much fun as a BYU fan (both in bball and football).
Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

My spider sense is gong off. Game opened at ISU -4.5 and as of this afternoon, had been bet down to a pick. I have a hard time believing that's all just public money moving the line 4.5 points. There has to be an injury or something that hasn't been announced, eh? Something's fishy . . .

Where are you seeing that? The opening spread I've seen is between ISU -7 and ISU -8.5 with the current line at -8.5.

That would make a lot more sense. This was told to me yesterday by a co-worker who follows the B12 and is a regular sports bettor.

                        BTW, line now ISU -9.5

I wish. I was in Provo for Saturday’s game against WVU, and it was awesome. This team is fun to watch.

So the co-worker was misinformed, confused, or perhaps a compulsive liar.

I think he was misinformed. I was actually in his office when he purportedly looked up the line, which is why I believed it. Today when I poked my head into his office, before I could even say anything, he said "I meant to text you last night. Please tell me you didn't go make a large bet on the game based on our conversation yesterday." I should have dicked with him a little bit. "I have no idea what I was actually looking at when I gave you that line yesterday" he added.

Darn, I was hoping for the compulsive liar option.
