  • Looks like they found a workaround. This is great news. They could appeal for the other year or two later if they need to, but we want that kind of players that will bounce to the NBA after a year or two playing for KY anyway.

Exactly. Probably wasn't planning staying beyond two years.
      Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

Sources: BYU Basketball Beats Boise State in Closed Scrimmage (VTF)

BYU won the game 91-86. BYU held out 4 scholarship players; sources tell me they were held out for precautionary reasons and are minor reasons. Boise State, meanwhile, played with its top players. The Broncos played 11 players and BYU played 9 guys. Degenhart was as good as advertised for Boise State, pouring in 31 points on the Cougars.

BYU was led by Richie Saunders. Richie led BYU with 25 points, 6 steals(!), and was 9-10 from the foul line. Five total BYU players scored in double figures. Dawson Baker was BYU’s second-leading scorer with 19 points, and Trevin Knell shot 4-8 from distance. Egor Demin led all players with 8 assists.

        • Also, when are they going to release single game tickets for the conference games? I don't recall them previously being released at a separate time from the non-conference games, and not this late in the year / close until the season starts...

4-Star Big Chamberlain Burgess Commits to BYU

6-9 forward chooses BYU over Illinois. Both parents played basketball for BYU, and we've got his uncle on staff!

On the court, Burgess can play either the 4 or 5 with his long and athletic frame. He can protect the rim, space the floor, and is a good passer. He will need to add some weight to compete at the high-major level, but he has plenty of time to do that, especially with his mission. He’s not quite as tall as former Utah big man Branden Carlson, but I see a lot of similarities between the two with their ability to stretch and run the floor.

Chamberlain has told me he plans to serve a LDS mission before enrolling in school, meaning he would join a program in 2027.
This is a good get. Having 5 star players is fun, but I still think it's essential to get the top LDS talent.

                • Sleepers claim they’re hearing BYU and KSU have been told to expect a decision by this weekend. They think it’s BYU but they also think he may not even stay a whole season. Worth a listen.

Not stay a whole season? What does that mean?

The guy thinks AJ has so little interest in going to college that he will up and leave mid season. He’s pulling that out of his ass, but he does seem to believe it. They hate the new ways of NIL and AJ represents what’s going wrong with college hoops to the greatest degree in their eyes. They love his game but hate the process. They also say even if he were to leave early it’s still worth it for BYU and BYU only. They don’t elaborate much on why except to say it would be fun to see.

                      • The sleepers guys don't really know anything. Seems sour grapey (for whatever reason) to assume things about AJ

I'm guessing some NIL money might be tied to him sticking around the whole year.
Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

If players like this choose Duke or Kansas, no one says anything like that

                              • Am I the only one that thinks players that leave in the middle of the season and/or semester are not a good fit for BYU? I understand we are in the pay-to-win era, but I kinda like BYU standing for something...anyway, go Cougs!
