I think I know why adding in the transfers drops BYU from #12 to #25. BYU only has two transfer additions so far, and half of them are from the University of Utah.

I am expressing very guarded optimism about my team. You are hooting and hollering like BYU just won the NC.

            • Can someone give me the tldr of what the h is going on with our team? Wow. I saw an article where KY is marketing BYU's lack of party atmosphere as a feature not a bug, come here to prepare for the NBA with no distractions. Brilliant.

                1.) Pope takes Kentucky job.

2.) BYU players enter portal- Saunders, Hall, Khalifa, Jaxon

4.) Carson Chandler flips from BYU to Kentucky-following Pope.

5.) BYU hires Kevin Young. Young talks about hiring a staff that will facilitate NBA development and talks about turning BYU into some pipeline to the NBA.

6.) His first assistant hires are Burgess and Dunson- college assistants from Utah and Stanford respectively.

7.) A highly touted 4 star PG/CG named Isaac Crawford who had committed to Stanford follows Dunson to BYU.

8.) Noah Waterman entered the portal.

9.) Saunders and Hall repented and returned to the flock.

10.) Keiba Keita followed Burgess from Utah to BYU.

11.) Issac Davis-the greatest hope from Idaho Falls since Richie "5head" Webb flips from BYU to USU-all indicators are he was asked to go elsewhere.

12.) Rumors of international stars coming to BYU abound.

13.) KY actually hires the assistants he claimed he would. BYU has decided it is willing to pay well for its HC, KY was on the shortlist to being a NBA HC, and for assistants.

14.) One of the NCAA's best defenders - a 3/4 from Rutgers named Mawot Mag commits to BYU.

14.) Egor Demin, a reputed lottery picking '25 from Russia, commits to BYU. It is rumored NLI is $2 million (half a mil going to Real Madrid). BYU is now willing to pay, or at least admin is now allowing rich boosters to pay, to buy good players. Making it appear KY's coach's talk might really be reality-or at least he institutional commitment is legitimately there to give KY everything he needs to bring his vision to reality-jury out whether or not he and staff can.

15.) BYU's final assistant is Tim Fanning.

16.) Kanon Catchings a top 40 recruit and potential 1 and done is released from his NLI from Purdue. His prep school coach happened to be Tim Fanning-yes that Tim Fanning. He visits BYU, Florida State and NC State and commits and signs with BYU.

BYU currently has 12 players for next year on scholarship. One walk may help-a solid 5 from Snow who went about 14/9 in JC ball last year. The 2024 recruiting class is a top 10 caliber class and BYU is paying out NLI like UNLV in the 1980s. Optimism abounds and many of us are interested in what KY's blueprint (i.e. how does he blend the 1 and does, developmental and LDS kids) into a roster. Interesting days over the next few years await!

I forgot that Kozlowski flipped from USC to BYU. That happened about #6.

You should right an Op Ed somewhere laying this all out. There are likely dozens of Jay Santos out there who have interest but just are not aware.

Nice summary. No 3.) and two 14.)s. It's like fingernails on a chalkboard for some of us.

After 4.) on your list there was a lot of wailing and gnashing of teeth followed by cries of "Why can't we have nice things?" Then the Heavens parted and KY walked through with a plan. Hope reigns again!
