The Senate is still interesting. It's looking like it will end up 51-48 with the Georgia run-off pending. The margins of power in this election are super thin. We could have the EC margin is 270-268, the Senate 51-49, and the House something like 220-213.

Maine's congressional district will likely go blue too, so the Omaha vote may not be necessary. I now think that PA and GA will also end up going to Biden, so it will probably end up 307-231 (almost the same as Trump's margin in 2016). Biden could pull it out in NC too, but that seems less likely.

Biden would be very surprised to find out he is a crazy right-wing conservative.

AZ mormons stepped up-- weren't manipulated by the GOP Pro-Life guilt machine, didn't throw away their votes by casting a worthless third-party ballot to make a useless statement to nobody. What they did was defeat Trump and send that orange shit bag packing back to cheesy reality tv-ville where he belongs.

And Biden broke Obama's 2008 record for receiving more votes than any U.S. presidential candidate in history. John McCain is smiling on Arizona and the U.S. this morning.

How long before we can do his temple work? I think he might be receptive if we got it done now.

I disagree. Unless he can manufacture some controversy like court-packing, I don't see how he could stop it.

                        • The state leaders continuing to reassure the open and methodical counting of ballots according to established law is being followed and can be verified might be my favorite part of the coverage.

I’m also surprised with the house. The narrative going into Tuesday was that it was safe for Ds and the question was how much could they build on their majority. If all rep races ended where they are now, Democrats would keep the majority by a single vote.

Really, the only thing that could have been better in the realm of reality was a presidential election so decisive that no one, not even trump, could cry foul. Oh well.
Maybe Pelosi would be forced out of the Speakership. Probably not, but it's fun to hope.

I hope it doesn't come to that-- if for no other reason than that the next vacancy is likely to be Justice Thomas's seat, which I hope he fills for many years hence. But I also don't like the idea of confirming a SC justice only when the same party holds the Presidency and Senate becoming a norm.

I don't see a vacancy coming up in the first two years, which is when it would be hardest to justify not confirming. After that, who knows. We'll see.
