To be specific, the local school districts in my area want to impose mask mandates for attending school given the rise in cases in our area and the fact that masks help slow the spread of infection. But they can’t make that call because the governor has issued an executive order banning mask mandates. So even though a mask mandate is wanted by the majority, it isn’t allowed. Keep in mind that it’s also true that masks aren’t as effective if it’s only you wearing the mask and not everyone else.

i also find it funny that Gov Abbott still refuses to allow mask mandates and instead is addressing the rise in cases and lack of beds in the ICU by increasing the number of health care workers. Why not just do what helps prevent the spread by allowing mask mandates it’s like instead of putting back a guard rail at the top of a cliff, you instead just bring in more ambulances at the bottom.

the people in favor of legislative mask mandate bans are the same ones bitching about the political theater of wearing masks. rank and abject hypocrisy. these people are pandering, degenerate lowlifes. the rnc is a morally bankrupt cesspool of dishonesty and fear of an illiterate, superstitious voting bloc. these are the fruits of abandoning principle.

Wouldn't it be simpler just to go house to house making everyone show their proof of vaccine or roll up their sleeves? Vaccines solve the problem. Next to that, masks are medieval and are only required because of antivaxxers (ironically).

The how to is outside my field. But the common sense solution of vaccine mandates seems to me to be within the ken of any ordinary person with common sense and minimal education.

                      This seems interesting:
New data on coronavirus vaccine effectiveness against Delta raises concern among Biden administration - Axios

It will be interesting if it stands up to peer review.

Would love to see the data on J&J as well.

For some reason, most humans have a really hard time comprehending how vaccines work. They are not intended or designed to prevent infection. That's not even possible unless you inhale it. Infection prevention was for a time a pleasant surprise of these vaccines. The purpose of vaccines is to fight the infection and spare you life threatening symptoms after you're infected.

It is not news that there are significant levels of "breakthrough" Delta infections affecting patients with the RNA vaccines. Have you been following the news the past week in Iceland and Israel, and about the "leaked" CDC memo? This is the whole impetus for masks. Breakthrough infection without symptoms, or even with minor symptoms, doesn't matter. What matters is breakthrough and serious illness and deaths. So far, those numbers are extremely small.

The Axios article is very misleading. Stop linking antivaxx kookery here. As with Twitter, that should not be tolerated here. Lebowki, give beefytee a strike 1.

                              Massachusetts: https://www.nbcboston.com/news/local...-died/2464309/

106 deaths out of more than 4.3 million fully vaccinated residents of Massachusetts represents a rate of just 0.002%

Article published today. And the 106 probably died with Covid and not because of Covid.
