                Serious question, if COVID is spread through the air and not just through water droplets, how effective are masks? I thought they were only effective if it was spread through water droplets, thus the mask catches those droplets. If it's spread through teh air and masks don't really trap the air or the virus, are they effective? If they are effective, how effective are they? Just wondering if the whole masking thing is really not that important or effective but the CDC isn't saying that in the hopes of saving what little face they have left.

                    It’s a hidden jem in SLC for food. For beer drinkers, it has one of the largest selections in the state. I’m surprised Funk hasn’t brought it up before.

                        I’m no expert in this, but I think in general you have it right. Masks are effective at blocking ‘large’ droplet transmission. They can’t effectively protect against transmission of ‘small’ particles that are aerosolized. But I think there’s still a lot of truth to the advice that we heard at the beginning: we wear masks to protect other people, and they wear them to protect us. They do block a proportion of virus particles, and that decreases potential transmission. I have no idea how effective they are, but it is something.

                                Ha, some people are dumb but to each their own. I’d rather the dumb people continue to wear a mask when it doesn’t matter over the dumb people that won’t wear one when it matters. If they think the mask has special powers to keep them from getting sick then by all means, wear it, even though they are wrong.

                                The guy in the article that says he’ll wear a mask when he feels sick has it right. That’s probably the only time a mask is effective so you don’t spread your sickness to others.

                                    Hey I hope public mask wearing persists during cold/flu seasons going forward. I know many Americans are too macho to prevent the spread of infectious disease, but here's to hoping...

                                                Because the cost doesn’t outweight the benefit. It wasn’t just mask wearing that reduced the flu cases. It was the culmination of all measures. No concerts. No fans at sporting events. No international travel. Etc.
