      • I have to say.. I am finding some of these comments amusing. People have been shouting to take Maduro out and he did it and now people have responded it was illegal and did not have authority..

Now.. People are commenting and egging him on to take action from his comments he said. How quickly will we see a change in heart if he does take action. Rather ironic..

I am of the opinion of taking these guys out. These deserve to rot in hell and deserve no religious burial to get their whatever virgins..

Also, it had to take planning and the AF-pilots some very detailed dropping and flight to accomplish that target.. Let's not diminish that because it did not include people... And I am glad they planned to reduce the loss of life. Why is that downplayed..

One regime change at a time. You can only neocon so much at once…give him time to get up to W Bush and Cheney levels.

            Haha. He is getting there!

After all that has happened, anyone looking at the crazy shit Trump says and thinking "he would never do THAT" is kind of a fool.

That's what I was expecting during his first term. He was the most peaceful president in years. But this second term is quite different.

And if his threats end up being empty, if they embolden the opposition in Iran, more power to him.

Exactly, I know some people who are convinced Trump will invade Greenland. Four years ago, my response would have been "Jeez, we all know he's a moron but stop believing conspiracy theories". I don't say anything now.

My worry is it will have the opposite effect. They will lose hope the U.S. will get involved. And no regime change. If he was going to get involved. THIS is the one he should’ve.. He could of continued to have the blockade and Maduro would’ve finally cried UncleS

This is Tehran. Let that sink in. You are watching a revolution unfold live while the world’s media stays dead silent. Legacy media has become nothing more than a propaganda machine, because what news could possibly be bigger than this?

                      • Its certainly a serious protest and a significant event. I doubt the comment from the twitter poster that the media isn't covering it. This is from the NYT today. What "legacy media" is bigger than the NYT?

Iran’s supreme leader vowed on Friday that the government would “not back down” in the face of protests that have rocked the country in recent weeks, as the country’s leadership threatened to escalate its crackdown on demonstrators.

“There are people whose job is only about destruction,” Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said in a televised speech in Tehran, the capital, as he accused the protesters of being vandals who were trying to “please” President Trump.

Hours later, Iran’s Supreme National Security Council said that “saboteurs” would be shown “no leniency.” It was one of several official statements on Friday that appeared to signal the government would heighten its repression of the uprisings, despite Mr. Trump’s pledge to aid protesters if they faced lethal force.

Ali Salehi, Tehran’s public prosecutor, said in comments carried by Iran’s state broadcaster that saboteurs, vandals and those involved in clashes with security forces could face death by hanging. “We will not compromise with armed terrorists,” he said.

Iran was plunged into an internet blackout on Thursday as demonstrations demanding the ouster of the government spread and grew in size. The protests began in late December over a currency crisis and spiraling inflation. But they have since spread and turned deadly.

                        • The Iran protests were featured on the Today Show this morning. Long after they covered shooting in Minnesota and several other issues of course.

One thing that can't be denied is that (so far at least), the protestors in Iran have not yet been supported in the slightest by western progressives who have enthusiastically taken up the cause of palestinians/Hamas/etc in Gaza. Seems like an infinitely more righteous and worthy cause. Complicating facts is that Israel is openly and strongly supporting the Iranian protestors.

                          Interesting response here:

That response rings hollow for me.

I don’t see the media making Islam a race in Iran. Or that western liberal media has an agenda to push central control among other things they mentioned.

And I don’t think US media is avoiding covering the stuff. Sure lots of people would love it to headline, to push out the other headlines, but US news has always been US centric and there has been very little US involvement with that protests.

Yeah, the post is hyperbolic. But forget the media for a minute. Why aren't the pro-palestine folks mobilizing for the Iranian protestors? Maybe it is just too early in the process, but I recall instant reaction following October 7.
