It's not an obsession but a reality. Look no further than Trump's subservience to Russia on all things Ukraine. Or carry on with the drive-by snide remarksOriginally posted by dabrockster View Post

I could say the exact same statement about your drive-by comments that have no relevant purpose in the conversation at hand. And I disagree. You have an obsession. While valid reasoning, it shifts to obsession-level as you find every opportunity to shout to the rooftops when it is really not necessary. And truthfully, you lose any potency due to how much it over takes you..Originally posted by frank ryan View Post

You don't agree with me and I have a strong informed opinion. This is both inaccurate and unfair. You're the one who made that remark when it had nothing to do with the conversation.Originally posted by dabrockster View Post

I haven't followed this at all, but I'm guessing Russia needing to focus on Ukraine and being unable to support Iran and other interests in the Middle East is a bigger factor than US sanctions. Isn't that why the Assad regime in Syria finally collapsed after over a decade of civil war?
US sanctions don't really do anything if Russia is able to prop them up.
Your rant:
“we've rolled over and surrendered to all of Russia's demands on Ukraine's. It embarrassing. Trump essentially relayed all of Putin's demands to Ukraine. Now we are actively trying to tear apart the EU. We will off no meaning resistance to Russia on anything”
Point to what you said that had any relevancy to the topic.
Nothing you said nor what beefytee said was relevant to why Russia is no longer keeping an eye on Iran. Yet, it became a “Trump has rolled over to all things Russia.” Again if you cannot even recognize or comprehend this. There is no further discussion needed as you dig into your irrational thoughts. It’s your pattern to die on every hill that you believe you are in the right. It’s childish. Learn to take a step back.

I haven’t commented at all on Trumps action/inaction on Ukraine. And I’m not going to.Originally posted by dabrockster View PostNothing you said nor what beefytee said was relevant to why Russia is no longer keeping an eye on Iran.
But it is not a stretch to claim that a major factor in Russia no investing in Iran and other places of interest is because their resources are tied up in Ukraine.

beefytee: Exactly my point!! You didn’t mention Trump at all. But merely pointed out the eyes of Russia are focused more on Ukraine.
Back to the topic at hand;
Protests in Iran over the past 3-days. The working merchant-class known as the Bazzari Class, have instigated the recent protest due to the release of the value of their money agains the dollar. Looks like students are starting to join the protests.
“Iran’s protests, as of the time of writing, have yet to suffer any fatalities, but the discontent with the regime and its fiscal mismanagement has led to thousands taking to the streets.
Protests began on Sunday when the bazaari (merchant class) in Tehran closed their shops and took to the streets after Iran’s economic crisis deepened, with $1 reaching 1.4 million rials market value (42,000 rials official value).“
“There have also been calls for the death of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and discontent over his policy of supporting Iranian proxies with billions of dollars, while the Iranian economy suffers.
“No to Gaza, No to Lebanon. I give my life for Iran,” was among the chants heard.”

There was plenty of wonks speculating on this very thing. Russia's influence in the Middle East was tested in Syria as they couldn't prop up Assad.Originally posted by beefytee View Post

I'd be fascinated to know what Israeli intelligence is doing on the ground there.

Here is an excellent article describing what is going on:Originally posted by dabrockster View Post
How is that possible!?? Rationing water.
The inflation is crazy! $1 is worth 1.4 million rials.
