Mostly, Trump is doing what people voted for him to do, except for bombing Iran.Originally posted by LVAllen View Post

I support bombing Iran within the framework of what Rubio laid out when the attacks started. My personal opinion is the Iran can was kicked down the road for far too long. They should have been dealt with in the seventies. At the very least, they aren't going to be able to become a nuclear power anytime soon. If we get meaningful regime change as a byproduct, that would be cool.
My view is that within the context of this military action, Hegseth and the military deserve praise. There have been minimal casualties, and the attacks have been effective. Now they need to get to work and free the Straight of Hormuz.

He is a uniquely bad president. We don't need your approval to find that he is a massive POS. No need for your to go into extended depression. But Yes, Trump is absolutely doing unexpected things.Originally posted by Shaka View Post
I'm perfectly capable of parsing how Trump is vs what Trump does without going into extended depression. Trump isn't doing anything unexpected. He's always had a terrible bedside manner.
Lol at you just normalizing Trump's actions by saying its not unexpected.Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

Anyone with the military superiority and budget the US has should have no problem incapacitating Iran’s military. That outcome was never in doubt.Originally posted by Shaka View PostMy view is that within the context of this military action, Hegseth and the military deserve praise. In the broader context of not preventing Iran attacking multiple countries and not having a plan to deal with the blockade of the Strait, the military action doesn’t seem too deserving of praise. Add on failing to account for Iran’s nuclear material and the inability to secure a better leadership after military action, the loss of innocent lives becomes more glaring. It will stand as a bright testimony against this president at the last day.

...and the whole bombing Venezuela thing, not stopping the Russia/Ukraine war within 24 hours of taking office, implementing new taxes on the middle class, contributing to skyrocketing gas prices, raising the cost of groceries, inability to curb inflation, and managing to damage international relations with essentially all of our allies, and overall wrecking the morale of a nation of over 300 million people ..... Other than that, he's done a decent job.Originally posted by Shaka View Post

You're good. I know why Trump is triggering. I have friends and a family member or two who have spent the duration of both Trump presidencies whining. I have a longer view. I can grind it out until Rubio becomes president....Originally posted by falafel View Post

You and I saw the original movie right? The one where Rubio was the supposedly serious choice that would be able to woo GOP primary voters? The one who was too interventionist and not racist enough for the diehard v.1 MAGA voters?Originally posted by Shaka View Post

Do you think the sequel where Rubio has to contend with the same GOP primary voters and a slew of candidates who are all too eager to feed the base their basest desires will be any different?"...you pointy-headed autopsy nerd. Don't both parties feed their bases' desire though? I don't believe one party has cornered the market on this.Originally posted by Northwestcoug View Post

It is how we have red states and blue states. We already know who panders to their base.

Of course. You don't need to read any judgment on my part with my post. It just so happens that a lot of Trump's MAGA base harbors racist views. And part of Rubio's allure is that he is the serious GOP alternative to Trump. He may be, but primary voters want nothing to do with him.Originally posted by The_Tick View Post

I honestly don't know who I will vote for 2.5 years from now. Zero chance I will vote for any of the names the Dems are currently floating. I'd like to see a moderate from both sides put forward, but there is a fat chance of that happening.Originally posted by Northwestcoug View Post

The Republicans do have a portion of their fanbase that I would say is racist. For sure. The Democrats have the same thing in their fanbase though. They have a white racism problem, and a self-loathing problem from part of their electorate base.
Will be interesting to see what happens. It is crazy to me to see the amount of US citizens that I see online that are rooting for the demise of our Nation. That is not a winning way in the next Presidential election. I feel like as a country we do need to look at America first. I don't think that is a bad thing. Much like flying on an airplane...if the plane depressurizes, you take care of yourself first and then your neighbor.
