One thing that some analysts are saying now in light of an apparent sea change demonstrated in the Virginia election, the Republican gerrymandering could very well backfire. You have to water down what you believe to be a solid district to make a swing district more favorable to you. But if there is a significant shift in the electorate you've possibly weakened your position. Virginia has been shifting toward the dems but not so much for a dem to win a statewide election in a blowout, unless there is a significant backlash happening against the Republicans.Comment
