I didn't say defend. I don't think likes Trump, but rather he's reluctant to acknowledge just how awful he is.

The Dems have been trying to invalidate the 2016 election ever since the day after the results were known. Many still haven't accepted the fact that Trump won the electoral college and is validly and legally their president. So while I don't disagree he'd cheat to win, the other side would do the same. Hey, Clinton was basically ready to coronate herself (purple dress and all) only to be left in the dust.

But I have little worry about this election. It's not going to be close. Biden is going to carry many of the swing states and Trump will go on to his echo chamber for the rest of his life. Thankfully most of his biggest followers are also very old so they won't be around for very long either. The GOP will swing back to its more conservative policies and the stink of Trump will wear off.

Frank - my odd habit is to look at hyperbole by both sides and tell people they're full of shit.

I have consistently said on several occasions - Trump is a moron who does enough dumb stuff that there is no reason to stretch, misconstrue, hyperbolize, twist, or in any manner take his borderline dumb tweets and turn them into something they aren't. Use the easy material he gives you, and you'll have plenty to work with.

Twisting the borderline stuff just gives his supporters an out and fans their flames, giving them examples of "fake media". If his critics are willing to twist, stretch, and mischaracterize A, B, and C, then why wouldn't they also lie about D, E, and F? Which gives them way too much wiggle room.

That's been my point all along.

I have no doubt that Trump will cheat, lie, and steal (if he can) for the election. I have no doubt that if/when he loses he'll deny it and initiate lawsuits or whatever. He won't be the first to have done any of these things - and I doubt he'll be the last. Hell, we still have Hillary from the last election who is essentially running around saying that she won. There's plenty of evidence that both parties are dirty - the cries of "drain the swamp" actually have some merit. Unfortunately, Trump is turning it into a sewer instead.

Trump hasn't been nearly the delegator in chief or the CEO on high that sits back and lets his "smartest, bestest" people make the decisions and run the country that I'd hoped he would be in my best case scenario. I'm happy to admit that things could've gone much better.

I also think that many of the worries you've expressed about a Trump presidency were over the top.

I had those same worries, but the optimist in me thought, 'hey he's a dickhead on the campaign trail-- maybe he'll let clearer heads and brighter minds take the reins when he gets into office and is chest deep in policy discussions. Nope. Turns out his creditors, lobbyists, and whomever else he promised favors to took the reins. I would think a guy so into himself would try to make sure he did a good job so he would have some kind of legacy. Huh. Turns out narcissists like that are also exaggeratedly short-sighted.
