  • In order to be POTUS, someone should have to pass:

    1) An examination of his/her psychological health

    2) A basic civics exam
We all trust our own unorthodoxies.

      • What would happen if Trump really did crack down on media that criticize him?

But as disturbing as Trump’s authoritarian impulses are, we may be protected from the worst abuses he would like to carry out, both by our democratic institutions and by Trump’s own stupidity, ignorance, and incompetence. Yes, his desire to be a dictator is horrifying, but it would be far worse if he were not such a bumbling fool.
        Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

        • At the same time, the fact everyone knows he's a moron protects him also: "ah, that's just Trump...whatever"

I think someone should have to pass a basic civics exam in order to vote, but I'm an elitist like that.

Hell no! But you probably knew that if you ever come to this thread.

I'd make them pass a basic civics test, a basic econ test, some basic geography and basic foreign policy, as well as military history.

For POTUS, it would also be nice if POTUS could do at least entry level calculus. A pscyh eval and physical would also be a good idea, and maybe we could disqualify anybody who has ever filed a personal bankruptcy.

I did. In a choice between Trump and Hillary, both of whom were equally terrible choices, I voted for trump because there existed a slight possibility that he might accidentally make a good Supreme Court nomination. There was zero chance of Hillary doing so (from my perspective). Plus, living in MO, trump taking the state was part of a strategy that would have had to fall in place for a 3rd party (McMullin/Johnson) to have a shot in the extreme unlikelihood of an electoral college deadlock.

I hate Trump and could never vote for him but I'm pretty happy Gorsuch is on the court instead of whoever Hillary would have nominated.
