The statement that was released was the limit of what the poor souls in the Church PR department were willing to do on their own over the weekend. A stronger statement isn't going to get issued without explicit approval from the FP/Q12. The FP/Q12 tend to be busy on the weekend doing things like dedicating temples or meeting with saints around the globe, you know, stuff like that. People expecting a "Thus Sayeth the Lord" pronouncement from the church over the weekend were completely clueless.
If the church does issue a stronger statement this week, the morons at the WaPo and all these Facebook whiners that were ranting about how the statement wasn't strong enough are going to think their chattering somehow had an effect on church leadership and we'll see even more whining in the future. Interestingly, they're likely the same people that would cry foul when the church issues a statement on a matter of policy that they don't agree with. Then they'll be calling for the church to shut up or get its tax-exempt status revoked.Comment
