I wonder about the trade off. Suppose we let in 150,000 immigrants from Syria. I don't think it would be wild to say maybe 50 of them are terrorists. Let's say they manage to kill 200 americans. I would think a true humantarian would say the saving or helping of 149,950 lives are worth the monetary costs and the lives of 200 Americans.
israel put up the wall in places to purposely separate palestinian areas from other palestinian areas to make live harder, so yes I am against the wall as israel built it.

What would say if America built the wall but put Tijuana on our side of the wall?

Duh! We can say that pretty much about everything.

Except for the DJIA for some strange reason.
        Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

Yeah, really. If it isn't, why didn't they build it on internationally recognized borders?

I'm certainly not suggesting that we simply open our borders and let 150,000 people stream in, despite Trump's outrageous claim we've been letting millions of illegals flood across our border. It's VERY hard for refugees to get into the country, especially those who are most in need of asylum. We already have a very careful vetting process in place. To put an absolute ban, even temporarily, on those people is cruel, unnecessary, unAmerican, unChristian and appeals only to the lousier devils of our nature.
These are useful insights. Do you know what our asylum processes are? I do not. Your claim appears to suggest you have intimate familiarity with the process and difficulties.

The walls/fences (there is not one contiguous wall/fence, but several throughout the West Bank) are built to prevent Palestinians from freely accessing Jewish settlements in the West Bank and the rest of Israel. They are for security. It is true that one consequence is that they and other security measures (closed roads and checkpoints) do make travel between Palestinian population centers in the West Bank more difficult than it would normally be. But that is not the purpose of the walls/fences.

I don't think a temporary hold on immigration is any of those things. With that said I'd like to make sure the people provided for while they wait.

This stuff happens all the time in the corporate world. I'm working on a spin-off/acquisition at the moment. Certain practices are temporarily shut down until new management or purchaser can analyze and either keep the current practices or implement change. It sucks for some of the people on the ground but ultimately it usually works out for the better.

In this case Trump is the new manager who is temporarily stopping a practice while he takes a look to see if it can be better managed. I feel for those who have to wait. Hopefully Trump adjust things to his satisfaction and then we move on quickly.

Had 3 people of the 10,000 we currently have turned out to be terrorists you would be dead on with that '50' number. So, it's not really just my opinion, it's more just math. (Somebody tell me if my math is off.)
If you trust Kathleen Newland at the Migration Policy Institute's numbers, 3 out of 784,000 refugees in the US from 9/2001 to 10/2015 have been arrested for planning terrorist activities.

I didnt mean of course the main purpose. the fact is if the only purpose was security, the wall would have a very different route.

A Trumpologist is someone who takes some crazy indefensible thing Trump has said or done and rationalizes it or defends it, either explicitly or implicitly. For example, creekster completely mischaracterized what Steven Peck wrote in the article and thereby mocked Peck's criticism of Trump. You do this yourself. A lot.
Sheesh I was just joking. But peck was being a bit hysterical about it. It might have that effect long term on science but the real issue is that trump is going to effectively shut down the EPA. That's the issue to address and worry about, not some temporary (and not uncommon) gag order.
                        PLesa excuse the tpyos.

I guess what I meant is Israel built it in a way that causes disruption to Palestinians, and in many cases this was purposeful. And it was built in a way to try and change facts on the ground in terms of future land allocation.

Well, that isn't what you said.

Again, there is not one contiguous wall/fence. There are a number of walls/fences/barriers throughout the West Bank to provide security.

Sadly, the effect has been the ghettoization of Palestinians in the West Bank. A tragic irony for the Jewish State.

                              • Client meeting lasted longer than I thought. It went real well. Now I have to head off to the Dentist. I probably won't respond to any minor or trivial things that offend me until much later or tomorrow.

I just don't want anyone who gets in a good jab to think my skin had gotten thicker.
