  • Romney in the cabinet would be a brilliant move by Trump. Would immediately diffuse concerns about him being a thin-skinned egomaniac.

      Yep
      Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

and Romney's acceptance would also insulate Romney, because he has already criticized Trump. It would be an astute play.

Upon rejecting the Beatles, Dick Rowe told Brian Epstein of the January 1, 1962 audition for Decca, which signed Brian Poole and the Tremeloes instead.

One of the grandest benefits of the enlightenment was the realization that our moral sense must be based on the welfare of living individuals, not on their immortal souls. Honest and passionate folks can strongly disagree regarding spiritual matters, so it's imperative that we not allow such considerations to infringe on the real happiness of real people.

I don't really mind Evan. He made a gutsy play that will put him in an advantageous position next election cycle. His new party may have a shot of becoming the third party for which many have been clamoring. I may have mentioned that the guy lived above me and was in my ward at BYU. It took a while for me to remember who he was.

Many of his supporters are another story and can be super annoying.

If you think they are bad, you should see the Trump supporters!

My real name is Kevin Bacon.

The Trump folks on my feed have been surprisingly decent. Even my Evan supporter friends have been mostly ok although I think a couple of my single female friends are angling to become Mrs. Evan McMullin. Unfortunately one of those friends put me in the McMullin for President Facebook group so I get to read all of the crap in there. My Hillary supporting friends are easily the worst.

I'd honestly feel conflicted about it. I'd be relieved because Trump's love affair with Russia frightens me and Mitt wouldn't put up with that bullshit. I'd also be disappointed in Mitt after making such a principled and vocal stand to compromise that to accept a position of power.

Doesn't his opposition to Trump compel him to take such an appointment out of that same principle? Maybe he has an obligation to help steer the Trump ship.

This is nonsense. Mitt is no more angling to work for Trump than his dad was to work for Nixon. It's an opportunity to serve the country during a pretty precarious time and we should all be praying that Trump has the sense to pick real talent for his cabinet. Partisan criticism of good people stepping up hurts the country.

Seriously? I'm not issuing partisan criticism of Mitt. Sheesh. The man held a press conference harshly (and accurately) criticizing and denouncing Trump. So I'm not sure it's good form for him to serve in that cabinet.

This stuff happens and it would speak incredibly well of both men if they put it aside for the good of the country. Hillary ran a cutthroat campaign against Obama and she served in his cabinet. But maybe you're right and Mitt should refuse a cabinet spot so Trump could get a Rudy G or John Bolton type in there. Sure he could have helped his country in a time of deep global unrest, but at least he stayed consistent and didn't disappoint those who liked his press conference!

Maybe I'm not clear. I trust Mitt's abilities to be a good and patriotic secretary of state, but I also find his principled opposition his own party's awful candidate also valuable. I told you I'm conflicted, not in complete opposition. But don't paint me as a partisan hack for having these feelings. Fair point on John Bolton and Rudy, those guys are jokes at best.

Would one those single friends happen to be a certain blond, originally from near Toronto, Canada, that was baptized about 22 years ago, that also likes to fly fish on occasion?
