He went to Bob Jones university. Doesn't that disqualify him as a matter of course in your view?

Plus, his no-good cokehead son was recently arrested for DUI and cocaine possession, going 71 in a 45, with a glock in the glove box. So you know Ted can't support Asa.

DeSantis is such a tool bag.

A little sprinkle of antisemitism and a wink at his contempt for the rule of law.

This is the next guy up?
Finally opened the tweet to see what it says.

Yeah - dumb of Desantis. Pretty sure he doesn't have much pull when it comes to extradition from one state to another. This is just political posturing - which he's really good at.

That aside - I'm trying to figure out what makes this anti-Semitic. The Soros? comment? What context am I missing?

Criticizing Soros as being antisemitic is a boring and lazy attack. George Soros has very explicitly been funding campaigns of AGs around the country. He wrote an op-ed last year stating what his goals are. It's ridiculous.

In terms of Desantis, he is an idiot who just gave Trump an ability to score an easy victory. I expect Trump to turn himself in next week because it will be too good of a photo op. But if he doesn't and Desantis doesn't have the ability to block the Feds from getting Trump from Florida (because he doesn't have that power), then Trump will call him a failure. Man these guys are just dumb.

              Yep.

Lots of folks here think DeSantis is a really smart version of Trump. He seems very dumb to me.

I think people have said he's a smarter version of Trump, which is not the same.

However, he is a Yale undergrad and Harvard law grad. He's probably not "very dumb."

Don’t be dumb it’s a dog whistle we all know it, he knows it, same as when they (conservative world) call Alvin Bragg a thug, we all know what they are really saying.

                  Josh Hawley last night said:

‘We have to go after these Soros prosecutors who have been put into office all across the country and expose the dark money network that has gotten them into power‘

Or just ask a Rabbi from Hawleys state:

The argument that the mere mention of the name “Soros” is tantamount to antisemitism, which is effectively the position of the progressive political, media, and activist elite, is made entirely in bad faith. Stating the plain and observable fact that some prosecutors are “Soros-backed” is no more of an attack on Jews than the broadcaster Soledad O’Brien’s warning to “full-time Florida residents,” an antisemitic dog whistle about God’s waiting room. If the mind of a Soros supporter, upon hearing his name, races immediately to an image of a “Jew,” and one who serves as a stand-in for “the Jews,” it’s probably not the motives of the critic that need questioning. The impulse to connect “Soros” with Judaism and Jewishness is not unlike the bigotry that associates the term “monkeypox” with Black people. It’s a form of essentialism that expects us to agree with the antisemites that “being Jewish” is somehow relevant to what Americans like Soros (or right-wing Jewish billionaires, for that matter) do with their time and money.

                      • So much of the anti-Soros psychosis coming from the right plays in to anti-semitism. The way his background story is framed is done so to make him look like a Nazi-sympathizer. Soros is not some omnipresent liberal Jesus. He is a wealthy progressive businessman who donates to causes he favors.

Soros' influence over Democratic policies is significantly lower then the Mercers, the Koch brother and Murdoch's ability to influence the GOP.

I hope Soros donates more money non-Republican candidates

Painting with a broad brush here. Are the musings of anonymous people on social media tantamount to Desantis or Rubio? Can you give me a specific instance where DeSantis said Soros was a Nazi sympathezer? Deaantis is bad in his own right, there is no need to pin stuff like this to him.

Do you know what op Ed that was? I saw one in the WSJ but it was behind a paywall. The first paragraph was innocent enough.

Let me know if that link still brings up the paywall and I'll provide you the text.

There are lots of articles detailing the Soros donations to various PACs including Color of Change PAC, which in turn contributed to Bragg's campaign. So that's what is meant by being "Soros backed". Whether being "Soros backed" is a bad thing or not is up to the reader but I agree with USUC that condemning any criticism of Soros as antisemitic is lazy.
