He couldn't have known what? Couldn't have known that SCI documents could only be stored, viewed, or discussed in SCIF's? Couldn't have known that he doesn't have a SCIF anymore (there used to be one at his dressed-up Motel 6, but isn't anymore)?

I mean, he's in possession of documents he can't be. The proof is that the FBI went there, found them, ran them past a Classified taint team at the scene, and then processed them. What's his excuse?
"I had them when I was authorized, but lost them" Mishandling, straight to jail.
"I gave them to someone else to hold onto." Jail.
"I secretly declassified them without telling anyone." They aren't declassified, off to jail.
"When the President does it, it's not Top Secret" Jail.

Nah, see it's all good. The statement was conjunctive.

The material had to be:
-marked as classified
-Held in boxes
-which were in a storage area
-The storage area needed to be at the Motel 6, Limited Trump Edition.

So as long as the TS/SCI material that posed grave danger to the nation if released was found in a leather portfolio in Trump's bathroom or on a conference table under a post-it reading "For the UAE with love from JK" the lawyer is off the hook.

Of course, what Hilary Clinton did was far worse... She wasn't the president and couldn't declassify documents with a "wave of a hand". Although she did once say "We are the president." when Bill was in power.

I'm not a Fox fan but that doesn't mean I can't watch to hear what they are saying. Is that a problem for you?

The whole declassification theory is a huge red herring. It was not his property and still contained sensitive information that even you probably wouldn't want the Chinese or Iranians to have. It was still illegal for him to take it with him.

I am privy to what the information is so I don't know if the Chinese or Iranians would have any interest in them. If it is the FBI's Crossfire Hurricane records then I can't see the Chinese or Iranians being too interested other than leaking them to embarrass the US and the FBI. But it seems that Drumpf did install additional locks at the FBI requests back in June. When the FBI examined them in June did they say it was illegal for him to have them?
