Man seen starting fires at Oregon state park, fire chief says

Firefighters responded Wednesday to someone attempting to start fires at Dexter State Recreation Area, the fire chief said in a social media post.

The state park site is along Highway 58, one of the few travel corridors in Oregon not presently impacted by heavy fire activity.

Dexter Rural Fire confirmed the posts is from Chief Matt Peterson. We are working to confirm additional details.

Peterson said a middle-aged man with arm tattoos was seen "lighting two fires in the bushes as you turn towards the dam."
