Well... the FBI agrees with her! I love her answer, by the way. Every few weeks in America when some white guy goes on a shooting rampage, they always focus on the 'lone wolf' theories or mental illness or whatever. The van covered in Maga stickers or psychotic facebook posts threatening to rape Michelle Obama or whatever fixation the killer has barely makes it to print. It's all 'thoughts and prayers' and 'don't you dare politicize this.' On the other hand, God help us if that same person happens to be a Mexican or Muslim.

Hey, are you off our land yet? And when can I expect that check? This is another reason you need to leave.

The far right is responsible for a lot more acts of violence than the far left in this country. I know that will trigger some and people won’t agree but that’s ok.

He’s red, not brown. Mexicans don’t belong to tribes.

Right in the first few paragraphs, this should be enough for grave concern and merits serious consideration of impeachment:

The Russian government interfered in the 2016 US election in a "sweeping and systematic" fashion to propel Donald Trump to the presidency. The Trump campaign welcomed the intrusion. Trump and his associates tried to weaponize their political positions for financial gain. After assuming office, Trump significantly obstructed the investigation into Russia's meddling on nearly a dozen occasions. He ordered the White House counsel to fire the man investigating him. He urged witnesses not to cooperate with prosecutors. And contrary to his repeated assertions, he was not "totally and completely exonerated" of wrongdoing.

Attempting to separate the Trump element from this, do you believe election security and prevention of meddling from other countries is an important issue to deal with?

                            If not, why not?

If yes, then shouldn't the Senate be trying to come up with legislation to help provide funds and other means to combat it, rather than blocking every attempt the House has sent to them so far? If the disagreement were around how to do it, it would be one thing. At least they could negotiate around that. But right now McConnell seems to be taking the approach that he doesn't care about it or maybe doesn't believe it matters. Politically I don't think it will play well for Republicans in swing states and districts if the GOP is painted as not caring about this.

Or being even more cynical, do Senate Republicans actually think it's better to ignore it because they believe any foreign meddling will actually help them? Is this very wise? Russia is one thing, but what about other countries like China that may not be too happy with the trade war and would like Trump out for that reason?

Generally speaking, I would not be in favor of spending much on the issue of persuading the electorate. There should be some regulation placed on media companies requiring they know who their customers are, similar to what banks have to do with business accounts. IF there are vulnerabilities in the security of the voting systems, that's a problem that should be addressed.

I think the 2016 interference is overblown. The Russian meddling was basically some fake news articles released on social media and less than $1MM in Facebook advertising. The two campaigns spent nearly $2B on the election. If the Russians had so much influence on the election with so few resources, they must have amazing insight into the American electorate.

Is it possible that the democrats are positioning their proposals in a way to get the republicans to admit that the 2016 election was unduly influenced by the Russians? Are democrats just using the legislation to cast the 2016 election as illegitimate?

the problem is none of things we agree on are being done because of stupid politics.

But I think your last question/statement only sounds convincing to the Fox news audience. I don't think democrats are more concerned with re-living 2016 as they are with what happens in future elections. They did win in 2018. That narrative probably plays great at Trump rallies and on Ted's twitter feed and such. But it's not very convincing to the middle of the political spectrum and is a pretty lame response to why we aren't doing more to secure the voting system in the US and work to keep out foreign money and influence as much as possible. It shouldn't be any of their business.
