          Well, who knows. But that Trump brought it up indicates to the other side that it is important. For Xi it's a no brainer to respond and let those kids go. Made Trump very happy. Let the kids go, avoid the international scandal of the whole thing, send the problem back to the U.S.

            Agree about xi's interest in letting the high-profile idiots go rather than causing an international incident. Leave it to Trump to swoop in and demand glory for it, though. Can't stand Lavar Ball any more than the next man, but I wouldn't kiss Trump's ass, either. The kids did thank him anyway, iirc.

                          Speaking of, I was a the Supreme Court today (humble brag for lawyers, embarrassing fact for normal people); I think Gorsuch is kind of a dick. I see why Trump choose him.

                                Liberals don't like him! So because the political bean counter game is more important the the well-being of the country, it's all good even if Trump is a total horse's behind who is dumber than a pile of rocks.

                                And you have to acknowledge if you're honest, that to a significant portion of his hardcore base, he's the perfect reaction to the "disgrace" of our last president having been black.
