Maybe doing nothing is an accomplishment.
"Guitar groups are on their way out, Mr Epstein."

Upon rejecting the Beatles, Dick Rowe told Brian Epstein of the January 1, 1962 audition for Decca, which signed Brian Poole and the Tremeloes instead.

I would think that someone as opposed to him as you seem to be would be happy that he is accomplishing so little. What's the downside for you?

The Federal Government is a huge ship. it turns very slowly. What we tend to vote about is which way the helmsman will lean against the rudder arm. Trump provided a clear choice there and so a lot of people voted for him. So proposing these changes, even as ineptly and ineffectually as he has done it, still counts as an accomplishment to some people, becasue they can see that he is leaning in a different direction. But whether or not it 'counts' seems to be pretty pointless to me. Withdrawing form the Paris Accord is a pretty big deal whether or not it counts to you or anyone as an 'accomplishment.'
      PLesa excuse the tpyos.

        • Trump just signed the bill to put sanctions on Russia. That doesn't seem like something he would do if he coordinated with Russia with their meddling in the election.

Unless he is trying to throw the investigation off the scent. . .

It was veto proof. There was no point in not signing as it was going to happen and so by signing he gets to make the claim you just made without actually making a decision.

                      • About that Trump approval rating:

                        http://theweek.com/articles/715440/t...mpaign=twitter

President Trump's approval rating has sunk to historic lows. No president has hit an average of 38 percent this early in his first term. Those of us who are prone to despair at the disaster of the Trump administration are told to take solace in this fact.

This is dead wrong — a product of analysts insisting on judging the 45th president by the same standards that applied to previous occupants of the White House when no such comparison is warranted.

The politically relevant, and profoundly disturbing, fact is precisely the opposite of the conventional wisdom: After six months of unremitting chaos, lies, ignorance, trash-talking vulgarity, legislative failure, and credible evidence of a desire to collude with a hostile foreign government to subvert an American election, President Trump's approval rating is astonishingly high — with something between one-third and two-fifths of the American people apparently liking what they see and hear from the White House. They approve of the constant ignoble churn and presumably want it to continue. This is the kind of politics they prefer.

That is simply stunning — and reveals just how precarious American democracy has become.
"There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? Those folks are just intolerable."
"It's no secret that the great American pastime is no longer baseball. Now it's sanctimony." -- Guy Periwinkle, The Nix.

You are attributing cunning and intelligence to Trump. When did he acquire those commodities?

Nice? I assume you mean that in the sense of effectiveness, not graciousness, since he insulted a very broad swath of leaders and the status quo, including nearly everyone seated behind him (yes, I'm sure that was his intent and it energized his base). For me, I think George W. Bush summed up my reaction most succinctly when, as he was walking off the dais, he was heard to mutter, "That was some weird shit." Bless him.

Concerning another great speech, Trump has said that the Boy Scouts told him that his speech to the Jamboree was "the greatest speech ever given" to the BSA. The BSA denies anyone within the organization said that (anyone who read that speech and thinks it was even appropriate, much less great, is daft), and has publicly apologized for that embarrassment.

Not every president has made embarrassing speeches to the bsa. Another accomplishment!
