In the future maybe even accusations, absent any level of evidence, against Republicans will drift towards how Biden is being treated. No doubt mocking the hypocrisy will help to that end.

          • Bernie may have given his endorsement to Biden... but not the Bernie Bros:

            And apparently AOC hasn't either:

Biden's chief of staff denying that he even remembers her doesn't help out. Apparently she was stripped of her duties shortly after the time when she claims the event occurred and had told people about it. It seems like she in fact told people about it when it occurred -- whether there was any truth to it is an entirely different point. It sounds like she was phased out of her job due to the allegation.

One postscript to the Kavanaugh allegation -- Blasely-Ford's father approached Kavanaugh's father at the country club they both belong to, shook his hand and congratulated the family on Kavanaugh's confirmation to the Supreme Court. There's a reason why her parents and siblings chose to avoid this whole event like the plague and not support her.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

                • The future of the democratic party, AOC, says that Tara Reade deserves to be heard and Joe's sexual assault on her should be discussed:

'Replaying old movies': AOC says Biden sexual assault allegations 'legitimate to talk about'

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez expressed her willingness to have a conversation about the sexual assault allegations facing presumptive Democratic nominee Joe Biden.

"I think it's legitimate to talk about these things," the New York Democrat said regarding the claims from former Biden aide Tara Reade, who said the then-senator sexually assaulted her in 1993. "And if we want, if we again want to have integrity, you can't say, you know — both believe women, support all of this, until it inconveniences you, until it inconveniences us."
                  [...]
Ocasio-Cortez's comments, made Tuesday evening during an online conversation with the women-only networking space The Wing, marked the first time any national lawmaker has spoken about the allegation Reade leveled against Biden. Ocasio-Cortez said it's "not okay" to ignore issues surrounding sexual assault simply because Democrats want to defeat Trump.

"I think a lot of us are just in this moment where it's like, how did we get here? You know, it almost felt like we started this cycle where we had kind of moved on from, you know, from all of this. And now it feels like we're kind of back in it," she said. "And, you know, the most diverse field that we've ever seen — that we're kind of back kind of replaying old movies in a way."

Sorry Joe... not everyone in your party is going to give you a pass just because you are democrat.

But apparently the New York Times will:

                      • LOL... Even Bernie's national press secretary is refusing to support Joe:

'Irresponsible': Bernie Sanders chides former spokeswoman for refusing to support Joe Biden

Sen. Bernie Sanders called his supporters who are refusing to get involved in the 2020 election because Joe Biden is the presumptive Democratic nominee "irresponsible."

Sanders dropped out of the presidential race and endorsed Biden's run against President Trump in recent days. However, his former national press secretary Briahna Joy Gray made it clear that she would not support the former vice president. When asked about the situation by the Associated Press on Tuesday, Sanders distanced himself from Gray.

Is there something I am missing about these two cases that an open minded and reasonable fellow like Frank could help me to grasp because the hypocrisy in treatment of this case is one of the most reasonable and obvious conspiratorial whines the right has had. Especially being only 6 months removed. What moral argument are liberals making other than just ignoring the case?

I am of the opinion that this indicates our civilization has coalesced around believing there has to be more evidence than he said she said.

Maybe some who "start by believing" are wishing they had not been so strident. Hypocrisy cuts both ways, especially in politics.

Thanks for the response. My hope is now that the "believe victims" without any level of evidence has hurt both sides we will be sane in the future. I thought the Kavanaugh episode was pretty bad so I am happy this happened in such close proximity as the hypocrisy of it is really hard to bs around. Folks can maintain that Kavanaugh is the threat to their interpretation of the law if they want to believe that, but the concept of due process and rule of law are paramount to us maintaining a healthy society- I think we all agree upon that. At some point a commitment to that should supersede winning. It is good that both sides' ox got gored in such close proximity.

why was the kavanaugh episode bad? there was a specific allegation made by a credible witness. he received "due process" (whatever that means and to the extent anybody is owed due process in that context) in the form of a public hearing where his accuser testified.
